I definitely agree with the idea to look for sample Capers from the particular ship you will be going on.  It will be two nights for a 7 day cruise, but it really depends on each ship and even moreso on the cruise director.  So it can even change on a ship with a cruise director change or if the cruise director is on vacation, etc.  ...

I completely agree...You are in a better bargaining place should the price fall between now and when your final payment is due.  I would definitely wait for final payment until closer to the sail date.

Usually if there is any tropical weather, they will head in the opposite direction for safety reasons.  For example, a Western Caribbean cruise could become Eastern, or I've been on cruises that were supposed to go to the Caribbean and instead went to the Bahamas.  It just depends on where the storm is and which direction it is ...

Personally, I think that Cozumel has some of the best snorkeling in the world!  Definitely think about snorkeling while you are there.  You will see so many beautiful fish!
