Huh. I've never heard that or experienced it and out of 14 cruises on Carnival at least five were on Riviera deck.

Just search around here for "I Hate Carnival" types of threads (there are several), and you'll find the stories. I don't know if they are true, ...

Just to add a bit from my experience.
If you carry on-board the soda, remember you might need to carry it around with you until your cabin is ready for you to occupy. Also, it needs to be able to fit thru the airport sized x-ray scanner.
If you pack the soda into your checked luggage, remember they are mighty rough with the luggage. ...

I like mid ship only because that's all I've experienced, need to move around some I know And I actually like the lower decks with an OV cabin, Love feeling close to the water when looking out. I mostly book on the main deck, although I'm looking forward to a balcony stateroom soon. ...

Good idea!
I would take it one step further.... Carnival already has regularly scheduled group meetings put in the Capers (Dorothy, Bill, etc). I wonder if it would be possible for Carnival to schedule a standing "Carnival Connections" meet on each ship? Calling it something like Friends of Freddy?

You should be able to go up to the Lido deck, and always find something to eat. For example, pizza and Caesar salad are served 24/7. So is self-service ice cream and frozen yogurt.
However, I am not sure about apples or cheese sticks.
Room service is always free, except for the ($5?) tip one should give.
But I am calling ATT today to see if the Data Pkgs work on ships... I know International calling Packages are no good for ships.
All cell phone service, voice or data, is provided by Cellular At Sea, not AT&T (nor VZW, Sprint, T-mobile, etc).

I have to agree with you.
The ship leaving late isn't like a loaded airplane sitting on the tarmac waiting to take off late. While waiting on board the ship, one can still get up and walk around, enjoying the many amenities the ship has to offer, including getting something to drink and eat.
