• Re: What to do in Costa Maya - not an organized tour.

Is that privately owned resort to the right of the pier (as you walk off the ship) still there?  Before the hurricanes there were plenty of internet tips on how to get there via holes in fences, etc., where they offered cheap food and drinks and free beach space.  The cruiselines had it blocked off with concrete and fences to prevent ...

  • Re: The Nightmare On Carnival Street

I'm not sure what Carnival was expected to do.  I see typical panic and disorganization that would occur in a foreign land, but other than not giving any explanations for their actions (something Carnival has a long, negative history of) what could they have done?  I would love to talk to you about buying that Hawaiian cruise off of ...

  • Re: Only 5hrs at Cozumel I want to see ruins HELP!!

Several years ago, we went on an excursion called Tulum Lite, which was set up for the short stop in Cozumel.  It was ok until the guy started on his sales pitch for those books they sold.  I walked away and went to the rest of the ruins on site, carefully watching the group to make sure they didn't leave.  That must have wasted ...

No fee to get in, but the wallet will be lighter when you get out!   There is a $100 per spin machine there if you want to save time!

  • Re: Cab Ride?

Regular cab, no.  Most of them are vans though, which will hold six easily.  They will try to stuff more in them.  The rate to Atlantis is $4 a person, with a minimum of $11 a trip (noted on the sign in the taxi area at Atlantis).  The two of us got in a car on the way back and he dropped up off in the far end of the ...

  • Re: New Ship for Galveston

Hmmm, the Carnival Currents I got yesterday shows cruises out of Galveston from Sept 09 to March 10 on the Carnival Glory!  Anyone know anything about this or if this is a misprint?

  • Re: Tips for saving $$$ on a 7 day cruise

We had no problems.  King room on the lower floor just down from the front desk.  Most parking is covered in a garage, though I chose to park outside in front since it was so close to the room.  There is a Comfort Inn next door.  As I was not planning to go to their seaweed filled beach, I did not mind the far out location and ...

  • Re: Best Place For Chicken Fried Steak Headed To Galveston
When you're by the Gulf why would you want a deep fried steak?
Because all the "fresh" seafood on the island comes off the same Sysco truck that stops everywhere else!

  • Re: Doing a day on your own in Nassau, Bahamas?

What parts of Atlantis are free?  We're too old to do any of the fun stuff anyway...like to sightsee and play at the casino...what sightseeing is there?  Any reasonable priced restaurants in the area?

  • Re: New Ship for Galveston

No, they definitely expect higher revenues than they get and aren't shy to admit it.  We were on the Sept 21 Conquest Cruise out of that new terminal and I thought it was great, given a few opening pains...less drive, easy parking (handicapped 100 ft from the door!), less construction than the never fixed IH 45, etc.  I read ...
