  • Re: Just some Newbie Questions

The cost-effectiveness of this "wait till you leave port" thing is iffy.   If you can wait before you absolutely, drop-dead need to guzzle that sodapop then sure, you'll save a buck-forty or so.  But if you're going to buy a sodapop before leaving port at $2-plus15% tip-plus 6% [or whatever] tax just so you can save a ...

  • Re: boarding pass airlines

My wife used the onboard internet once -- $4 set-up fee, $0.75.min connect charge.  Cost $15 or thereabouts.   Since then, she's gotten her father to do it for us, and we've always called when we get back in port to see if he got us an A boarding.   But I'll tell her about the Purser doing it for us.

You can see a portion of the wines they carry -- and which are the same from ship to ship -- by seeing what they will sell you in pre-cruise packages on carnival.com

They have babysitting services for something like $6/hr.  It's not in your cabin; you deliver and pick up.   It's never wise to allow anyone into your cabin; it's even less practical.  This person won't have a key and if you gave him yours he could charge you out of house and home.   Besta luck...

That's a problem with many people.    I'm a firm believer in learning as you go.  Get one under your belt and then ask others how to do it.

I don't know of many places that won't allow you to take a cruise scheduled before you got hired.

  • Re: Check In Time?!

You can be anywhere you want to be when you want to be there.   They schedule in time for the prior sailing to de-boat-ify -- which takes time. They schedule in time for the prior sailing to get all cleaned-up-after.  This is still going on when you get on board, as you'll probably find out. They schedule in time for Customs and ...

  • Re: Bringing wine and soda on board?

I stuck one of my wife's opened 2L bottles in the wastebasket so it would stand up and not fall over and leak on anything ... the steward came and threw it away while we were at the pool.   Wife was miffed.  She drinks 2 of those a day.   Cans, or if you drink a lot get the Fountain Fun Card
