Congrats!! You might also call the guest services department before your cruise. They are great about doing special things like that.

The actual rails are spaced but there is an angled piece of thick plexiglass from the deck to the top of the rail. Very safe. I would not hesitate taking my grandsons.

We will be on the May 25th cruise also, on the upper deck. Is the airport near the pier? Also does anyone know of a good motel near the pier to stay the night before?

Go to www.galveston.com and click on hotels/motels or whatever it says there. You will find descriptions of the places and if they offer free shuttle service along with free parking. Where we stayed was a block off the seawall and offered free parking, but we had to take a cab to and from the pier. It was about $16 each ...

Weather in the Bahamas during December is usually in the upper 70's, but like anywhere else, that can change in a heartbeat. We went during the rainy season and still had a great time, bet you will too.

We did the Jeep excursion in Freeport and enjoyed it very much. They furnished lunch at some botanical garden (I forgot the name) and you got to walk around there a little. There was still time after the tour to walk around the little straw market by the ship.
