  • Re: Carnival Freedom

Yes, Freedom does have an Internet café and wifi hookup for your laptop but it costs$$.  You can check through Carnival's website for their current fees.  I don't have that info. handy but we have cruised on Freedom and it is a lovely ship but we leave our laptop at home but sometimes I wish I can catch up on emails and ...

  • Re: SNOKELING EXCURESIONS

Absolutely, DO take your own pictures.  I have never heard that some excursion won't allow it.  We did 3 snorkel adventures 3 yrs. ago on our Western Caribbean cruise and all ports we visited we did underwater pictures as well as traveling out on the boat we took plenty of pics.  I can't imagine anyone saying you ...

  • Re: New to Fascination...questions.

We just got off the Fascination July 16th and it was our 4th Carnival cruise.  We like boarding as early as we can so the lines going through the embarkation process aren't too bad yet.  The later you go the longer you have to wait in line.  We prefer getting on the ship by Noon and just taking our time walking around and ...

  • Re: Hotel near JAX Port?

We cruised earlier in July and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, practically within walking distance of Carnival's JAX Port.  The hotel will allow you to leave your car for a very minor fee (I believed we paid $8 more for the 1 night - booked their cruise pkg.) and were able to leave the car in their side lot all 5 days.  The ...

  • Re: Half Moon Cay

We just got back 7/16/09 and we paid $17 for a clamshell that covered 2 lounge chairs but really didn't need or use it.  We kept our stuff in it but ended up using the free lounge chairs closer to the water.  We rented a couple of the flat foam rafts ($10, I think) which were wonderful, an inner-tube and 1 snorkel gear ...

  • Re: Sodas, chips etc.,

Sure, we always bring some snacks to have in our room and to take with us out by the pool but never any soda only because our suitcases are so full of clothes we wouldn't have any room nor need the extra weight.  There is plenty of Free drinks like ice tea, fruit punch and lemonade anytime you want it.  Cans of soda are $2.00 on the ...

  • Re: Passport Help!

We just got back from the Bahamas 7/16/09 and they definetly required Passports when we went through the debarkation when existing the ship going through Customs.  You need it at this point when getting off the ship and returning back into the USA, but not when leaving each port.  Only a photo ID was required at these locations ...

  • Re: dinner time

I'm not sure about the 15 mins. and doors are closed thing but perhaps that is correct.  Because we know they are on such a tight schedule with the 2nd seating starting promptly at 8:00 or 8:15 p.m., they need people seated and served on time.  We always are waiting in line to enter the dining room promptly at 6:00 p.m.  Dinner ...

  • Re: what time can you board the ship?

We just got off of Carnival Fascination out of Jacksonville.  We arrived at the embarkation at 11:00 a.m. and they wouldn't allow us on the ship until 11:30 a.m.  So we sat about 15 mins. before they started the VIP boarding then the rest of the herd followed behind.  Anytime before 12 noon I would suggest arriving at the ...

  • Re: 1st cruise with kids....tell me your favorite things

Hi there, A few suggestions for 1st time cruisers with children, ours are now 19 & 14 and we just got off our 4th cruise to the Bahamas 7/16.  They were 13 and 9 when we first started cruising. First, arrive at the port no later than 12 noon if at all possible.  The sooner you can get on the ship, the more time you will have to ...
