Ship: Carnival Conquest | Sail Date: 1/20/08 | Destination: Caribbean
I am in the restaurant business. i went on this cruise, knowing that Carnival was not known for its food. i was absolutely appalled by what we were served. during more than one meal, we were served food that was actually rotten! moldy, rotten food. it got worse every day. they tell you there are all these restaurants on board and all these choices. however, the way they count them is tricky. there are two main dining rooms. however, you can only eat in the one assigned and they are the same menu every night. they list several different buffets, but they all have the same food. then there are a couple little kiosks, with pizza, sandwiches or asian. basically, what it boils down to are three choices total. dining room, buffet or kiosk. there were several nights that we could not find a single thing to order in any of them. also, dont let the "24 hour" room service fool you. it is a very small menu and there is nothing hot, only cold food. over all the food was beyond disappointing. it was a bad cafeteria at best. the bright spot is the supper club ($30 per person, per meal). the food and service were excellent. they were on par with what you would expcect on a regular cruise every night. if it wasnt for the supper club, we would have starved. my best suggestions if you cruise carnival, bring snacks!
