cruising is excellent for people who enjoy variety !

Ship: Carnival Glory | Sail Date: 01/20/07 | Destination: > Eastern Caribbean

I began planning for our cruise a year before we set sail! I researched- accumulating 154 pages for my cruise document... Hubby and I were ready! It was our first cruise and it will be the first of many...We are already planning a southern caribbean cruise! The best part of the cruise for me was the total enjoyment of the food-from start to finish...It was everything that I had read that it would be...The other part of the cruise I liked was that there was always something new to do...or not! My one and only "beef" on the whole cruise was that the coffee was in plastic cups, in the Red Sail. Oh, please, Carnival....Change this! I will pay the extra $5.00 dollars for thermos lined cups...if the reason for the plastic cups has to do with breakage and safety on deck...People who like their coffee in the morning appreciate the cup as much as the coffee...We ended up buying our coffee form Creams Coffee and (oh my gosh-fabulous desserts$2. a piece!), in order to get a decent cup. The staff was excellent...the spa jacuzzi is the best kept secret on the ship and the grand piano with singer in the atrium was often the highlight of our day...We would sink into the sofa and enjoy hours of beautiful music...Oh, yes! Afternnon Tea...You must do this! It's in the Ebony lounge...violin, cello and grand piano...Bach...an Ave Maria that made my heart stop and an atmosphere of such ....Oh, just go! Do an excursion in Nassau...Otherwise you will have little to do, other than the flea market at the pier/straw market...which was fun...order Counch Fritters...they are yummy...just ask a local where the restaurant is(behind the Starbucks)..Atlantis was Ok...You dont see much more than the website shows you, without paying $30. to get past the lobby...but it's nice, what you do see.....The staterrom...We had a balcony...wonderful-we were on the 8th deck...center of the ship, across from the laundry room(didn't hear a sound) but made it convenient for ironing, "on-demand! I wish people would take formal nights more seriously and dress up..What is happening to our coulture-dress up..I wore 2 long gowns with sequins and I felt like a princess..It was magical...Do this for yourselves, girls! The pizza was made from scratch and excellent...the fish 'chips place(go up the stairs that are in the middle of the Red sail Restaurant. It's at the top of the stairs...People just don't see this til later in the cruise...or everything...It's favbulous-fried oysters were excellent! try 'em! St. Thomas...guys-bring a bit of cah or your cards...and buy a fabulous ring for your sweetie! Gold and diamonds are so inexpensive-try to budget for a bit of shopping...you will be glad you did-I've never seen such great deals! St. Martins was the best port..high end...clean..up scale...the waterfront is tops...live entertainment, food, festive atmosphere...do get the $5. bracelt and take the water taxi inot town(to the waterfront) yes, you can walk ther, but the taxi ride is fun/lost of music and you can ride it all day! I was really impressed that on each Island, there was alot of visible Christian faith..including christian music in the shuttles/taxi's and on the water taxi...COOL! their fatih is simply a part of their life...their culture...really heartwarming...comfortable...need transportation from Port Canaveral to Orlando international airport...I did alto of research on this,...We used CocoBeach Shuttle-go to their site...$63.00, US for 2 and that's a 45-55 minute ride...good price...they were on time and very friendly...check 'em out! Thanks for everything, Carnival...We were impressed(except for the coffee mugs-fix that, please!) signed, a happy cruiser from atlantic Canada PS Back to reality- it's -35 degrees...burrrrrrr PS buy your drink of the day at the bar in the Atrium...they will mix it in fromnt of you and it's, well, shall we say, different from the mass produced ones on deck at the pools....Don't buy the souvenir glass or you'll spend alot of money...how do people get those things home in one piece??????!
