    Not a total choice...

Ship: Carnival Glory | Sail Date: 11/25/2006 | Destination: > Eastern Caribbean

My 24 year old daughter and I went on this 7 day cruise as a last escape before she gives birth. We requested an early dinner as she gets tired and hungry a little earlier these days. We were not given our choice. Instead we were assigned to the late seating. We went to the place to change the seating time and were told to try it one night and if it didn't work it would be changed. We tried, it was too late and my daughter was ill all night from eating too late. We went back to change the times as we originally planned but we were told that it was too late and we would just have to keep our late seating! The person in charge was differrent than the one on the first night and totally rude. There was no understanding at all. I went to the Purser's area to ask for help. The snotty lady there just told me she could do nothing about it, if the person in the dining room said no, then no it was. She did say she would jot a note down that we were not happy about the whole thing. Lot of good that did. We finally went to the other main dinningroom on the ship on our own the next night at the early time. We asked to be seated and told them again the problem. We waited for over half an hour and then were seated. There were clearly empty tables available earlier. The next night we were told we couldn't be seated again and told to go get some pizza or something. We did end up eating pizza and my daughter ended up going to the infirmary the next morning (after a terrible night). The greasy pizza had triggered a gall bladder attack. An expensive piece of pizza to be certain! The person in charge of the second dining room called the next afternoon to tell us we could show up the half hour late each night and he would "try" to fit us in somewhere. His female assistant pretty much ignored us when we came down each night. We were left standing until he found a seat. This was not the treatment we paid for nor expected. It certainly soured us on the Carnival experience.
