Carnival cruise line gives unfair compensation

Ship: Celebration | Sail Date: 8-12-06 | Destination: > Eastern Caribbean

My boyfriend and I were taking our first cruise on August 12, 2006. The trip did not go as intended. When attempting to dock in Nassau our ship somehow hit shallow water and land causing "technical difficutly". Our starboard engine was damaged and the ship was taken back to Jacksonville for repair. We were not able to visit the Bahamas which was the reason we took the trip. The sad part is the compensation for the itenerary change. We were given $100 per person towards our sail and sign account and 25% off our next cruise. Another sail was to take place today (Aug 21) but it was cancelled die to the engine. These people were refunded their entire payment, 50% off their next cruise, and a free shore excursion of their choice. How is this fair?
