    December 27-31 2007 Issues

This was my fifth cruise and my second on Carnival. My wife and I wanted some sun and fun and our cruise turned in to no sleep and no on shore experience.  Our cabin was on the main deck in the rear of the ship.  This was a 4 day cruise. We boarded without issue and had dinner in the dining room the first night; we thought things were going to be great. At about 1:00am the first night we were awakened by loud banging and vibration. These noises lasted until 5:00am. We got up at about 8:00am and found that it was cold outside and we had not made it very far from port. It seems there were two medical emergencies during the night and the ship had turned back twice, so we had not made it very far. We were informed about the emergencies and told we were running behind and would be late getting into our only stop, Cozumel. It seems that one of the emergencies was due to a woman that was not allowed to bring her oxygen on board by a porter in Mobile and they failed to load it on the ship. Later that day we had a bad experience with a very rude purser that treated us like we were convicts when we told her that someone stole one of our $22 Canrival towels from the pool area while we were inside eating. We watched the remainder of the trip and she treated all the guest the same way. The first day at sea there were no chairs laid out, they were all stacked up and we had to unstrapped them and move them to where we wanted to lay in the sun. The ship had two hot tubs and one was closed the entire trip while the other was used as a pool for the kids. No hot tub for adults. The announcements were impossible to here in your cabin and in many places throughout the ship. By the time it got to our day in Cozumel we were scheduled to arrive at 8:00am in time for fun and sun, but due to the two turn backs we arrived at 3:30pm with only two hours before nightfall. Our entire day that we had planned was shot and we ended up shopping and eating Mexican food and drinking margaritas which we could have done in any city in the country. The last disaster was on the day we were to arrive back in Mobile, at 3:30am in the morning we were awakened again by loud noises and vibration until about 7:00am that morning. Needless to say we only got two good nights out of four of sleep. We were scheduled to arrive at 8:00am but due to fog in Mobile we did not get into port until 12:30pm, I am glad we were driving home and did not have to catch a flight. Late again! I would like to say that 99.9% of the crew was awesome and treated us very well. The shows were good and food was great. It just seems we got a little short changed on this trip.
