Our Liberty Cruise (travelgal and family)

Well, it's FINALLY Nov 7th, and we SAIL TODAY!!  Yahoo!!

We are here at the Hampton Inn Miami Airport Blue Lagoon this morning, where we spent last evening.  It's a nice hotel, very close to the airport and the free breakfast looks yummy.  We flew in last evening with absolutely no issues and everyone got all of their checked luggage - both of which are minor miracles considering we flew thru Atlanta!

The kids saw a Burger King corporate office - a big building sitting just off the airport property.  The younger one says "Miami is really nice - no offense to Ohio, but Miami has a BIG Burger King".  Maybe you had to be there, but it was really funny!

Now we are just here waiting for time to go to the pier.  I have butterflies in my stomach from excitement.  I can't wait for my two nephews to see the ship for the first time - at 12 & 8 they've never seen something so big.  They think they are going to be able to go tubing behind the ship -LOL!  I told them "this isn't like Grandpa's boat" - I just can't wait for their first glimpse of Liberty!

There's a lot of anticipation too - since we don't really know where we will be sailing today when we sail away.  THANK YOU IDA  Sad  for depositing yourself right in our path.  So it's the "Liberty" Magical Myster Tour - and we are all speculating where we might go instead of Cozumel.  Nassau, St. Thomas, San Juan, Key West....  Hey, we'll go anywhere, but the one thing we all agree on is that we hope the captain sails us EAST where there are calmer waters.  But we brought lots of meds just in case ...Ick!

Well writing this has killed approximately 5 minutes...now I only have 4 hours still to wait before we catch a ride to the pier!

Re: Our Liberty Cruise (travelgal and family)

We are back.  Sad  Months of planning and it always goes so very quickly...so very sad.  BUT...We had a great cruise despite IDA and some pretty rough waters for most of the trip.

Because of the hurricane, Carnival ended up reversing our route, so we still got to hit all of our scheduled ports - which was great.  However because of the storm the water was pretty choppy and we did quite a bit of rocking the first day and a half.  Luckily though none of us got sick and I personally slept like a baby.

I'll write more later about the trip, but I'll say this now:

    1. Liberty is a beautiful ship and is immaculate!
    2. The crew and staff were amazing - especially Angel and Gunartha who anticipated our every desire at dinner each night.  Also Iputu who keep our soda glasses full as well.
    3. And everything you've read here about Butch being very "enthusiastic" is all true - but I didn't find him annoying, he just loves his job.  It was really funny that after his first "welcome aboard" announcement my sister and her hubby both noted "Boy - is HE 'enthusiastic'" - and they've never been on this site to read that.
    4. Grand Cayman is awesome and if you go you MUST go to Stingray Sandbar!

It was another great Carnival trip!
