I was looking for a hotel room for this upcoming January and wow are the prices up there!

Our hotel from last September was only $95 or so with taxes but now it would be $195 ??!! YIKES!

So after reading the boards and searching around this was the best rate I could find. The other recommended hotels were easily over $150 for the night.. more towards $200 with taxes! That was just too much for a place to sleep before heading out on our cruise.

Ended up finding Marriott Miami Biscayne Bay Hotel for a total of $112.40 on hotels dot com.

Hope it turns out to be a good one - it's supposed to be a 3 1/2 star.

We booked this hotel through priceline for $102 a night. We will be staying 2 nights pre-cruise. I'll post after we get back in December. I'm pretty picky about the places I stay, so, Please let it be nice!!!

I think the reason the rates are higher is due to the seasonal rate hikes.  I found the Doubletree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay on that same website. 

We stayed there last September and just thought you might want to check it out.  You still have lots of time to switch hotels too.  I do know this one is a great hotel in a great location.  We had a Jr. Suite with a balcony and a great view of the Bay.  I called them and if you have AAA that Discount was actually cheaper than the precruise package they offered.  I do know with AAA Discounts you have to ask 1st if they offer it.  That is one thing that has never changed over the years.  It's still not advertised.  Just thought you could do a price comparison cause you never know.  I highly recommend this one and someone just got back from a cruise that also stayed there and they really liked it too.
