    Question about Bahamas

Just wondering if the Bahamas was considered in the U .S. or not. One of my kids gave me a visa/debit card for my birthday yesterday for my cruise and on the front is said for the U.S. Can I use it there?

    Re: Question about Bahamas

Nassau and the Bahamas are not part of the United States.  Many places outside of the US do not accept the Visa gift cards including the cruiselines.

Thank you for that quick response. I will use them elsewhere then and save my cash for the trip.

Did you do an excursion at Atlantis and what would you recommend do once there?  I want to see it myself.  The aquarium looks awesome.

    Re: Question about Bahamas

Actually, the Bahamas are an independent country - they got their independence from Britain back in the early 70's (73, if I remember correctly). I lived there as a child and went back every summer to visit my grandmother.
6/93 Premier Oceanic (Big Red Boat) (with all 3 kids)
8/02 RCCL Sovereign of the Seas (just 1 kid this time!)
8/04 Carnival Inspiration (7 day turned into 9 day, thanks Hurricane Frances!)
8/07 Carnival Glory- the Empty Nest cruise! (Itinerary changed, thanks Hurricane Dean!)
3/08 Carnival Holiday - Teachers on Spring Break, (Watch out, keep the kids out of our way )
7/08 Carnival Fantasy (couldn't wait for August!)
8/08 RCCL Mariner of the Seas (enjoying this empty nest stuff!) (Western turned into Eastern, thanks Hurricane Gustav!)
7/09 Carnival Holiday - 4th of July cruise - one more time before she's gone
8/09 Carnival Legend - pre-knee replacement surgery relaxation trip
Next up: 8/10 Carnival Dream - Eastern
(hoping to talk dh into getting a mid-winter cruise
    for my birthday/anniversary!)

I STAND CORRECTED. I WENT ON TOUR OF THE CITY AND WE WERE SHOWN MANY OLD BUILDINGS STILL STANDING FROM THE COLONIAL ERA. IT IS INDEED INDEPENDENT.  SAW THE ARTRADESTA ZOO WITH THE MARCHING FLAMINGOS.TOTALLY AMAZING. WENT TO TOWER AT HIGHEST PART OF CITY. SADLY THERE IS MUCH POVERTY THERE. NEAT STREET VENDORS GOING UP THERE. BOUGHT HAND MADE NECKLACE. ALSO HAVE BEEN ON SHORT HORSE AND BUGGY RIDE THERE AROUND HEART OF TOWN. HAD FUN.. DIFFERENT WORLD,

Wasnt the zoo there amazing? I really didnt expect to much from this excursion but was very pleased that we had decided to do it. We also got to feed the Lorie parrots apples and that was GREAT! We also had a great driver ( Big Momma) while there and she took us on a drive around Nassau and even took us over to see Atlantis. (not part of our excursion) She explained about "over the hill " and what that meant, yes they are poor people but were VERY gracious people, not pushy to buy their items or have your hair braided like other places we had been to.

I am glad to see that others enjoyed this excursion and if I ever get back to the Bahamas, I again will visit the zoo to feed the parrots and hopefully get Big Momma as a guide, she was AWESOME!

Happy future cruising, we leave on the Miracle in just 16 days to the S Caribbean.  CANT WAIT!

OK, I've been biting my tongue for a while now but since you're new to the board let me just fill you in on board ettiquette. Have you noticed that you're the only one typing in all capital letters?  The reason for that is that when posting to on-line message boards or chat rooms, all caps is considered yelling.  Also, it's more difficult to read than if you use lower case.  Finally, try to write the way you'd talk - the partial sentences are also difficult to read.  Lastly, for anyone interested, the zoo is Ardastra Zoo and Botanical Gardens and it's about 10 minutes from port - can get a cab ride round trip if you barter with the cabby for around $20 - just pay at least half on your return trip!

LOL!!!!!  With all of the poor writing on these boards this is what you single out?

Yes, Asia - this IS what I single out!  The reason is simple - this is an easy fix whereas teaching people grammar and/or spelling could be a full-time job.  As is teaching people manners.
