Brining sodas on board the Pride

Anyone have a problem bringing sodas on board either in a cooler or checked luggage?

We had a designated bag for our water and sodas, then checked them. We did have a large sealed bag to put them in though. Didn't want anyone's clothes ruined if any container sprung a leak. Even our ginger ale that were glass bottles, didn't break. Of course they had a bit of padding around them.

We leave in tomorrow should have posted earlier.  Didn't know if we should put it a carry on cooler (soft sided) or just add another bag and check - thanks for replying

Hi Susan!  We always bring our 12" x 12" cooler (we have a soft-one that collapses that we can pack for the return home), we have a six pack of something soda-wise in case we want one (not big soda drinkers), and maybe a small amt. of bottled water, but we've had no problem with the ship's water, then we will usually fill a couple of the empty bottles from the ship to go ashore in the ports of call.  We'll usually carry at least the sodas in the cooler over the shoulder, maybe the bottles in any carry-on, but they can be reasonably stored in the checked baggage, less worry than sticky, staining liquid if they do leak, but they can be stored 2 @ a time in large baggies pretty well.  I think I got the size right, poke around Carnival's main site in FAQ, it'll say.  They say a 'reasonable amount' of beverages (no alcohol except 1 bottle of wine per person in carry-on only, but we haven't taken wine in a long time).  So Hope that's somewhat helpful!  Have a great time!

    Best Wishes, M&J

if you put it in a carry on cooler it can not be any larger then a 12x12x12 ,

but even without a carry on you should be able to bring onboard with you , if you want to...  if you get on before you cabin is ready, you will have to carry it around with you.

Re: Brining sodas on board the Pride

I have brought sodas with me on every cruise so far, and will continue to do so.  See my drink of choice is Diet Mtn Dew, and thats where my daily caffiene content comes from.  I am not a coffee drinker, and I like my Tea (southern sweet), so to get me going in the morning, I can often be seen on the Lido deck with my Diet Dew and my glass of Ice.

I have not invested in one of those collapsable coolers, although I did see one in Big Lots a few weeks ago, and it had wheels and a handle but I think it was a little bigger than 12x12.  We have those sprots bag type bags, and drop the soda in the bottom and pack around it, and when we get to the pier thats one of the bags I have tagged and leave with the handlers.

Another thing to do is to put the drinks inside that and then put it inside a suitcase. Our steward had ice for us in one of those beer buckets twice a day.

Re: Brining sodas on board the Pride

Thanks everyone for your help.  I ended up putting some sodas in a cooler 12x12x12.  When I got to the security line and the guy stopped me saying my cooler was too big and wanted tp measure.  He told me 12x12x12 was the size of a 6-pack....well i kept my mouth shut and just let him measure so he could get a feel on how big 12x12x12.  After measuing he put me right on through.

We returned today from our cruise and have to say we had a wonderful time.  Looking forward to our mini cruise in December!!

Thanks again for all your help.
