We have 8 people in our group. We have 6 adults & 2 children ages 18 months & 22 months.  Carnival says we have to pay for the 18 & 22 months old. They will sit on laps so i cant see paying $16.00 a piece for seats when they won't be using a seat. Can anyone tell me if there are taxi vans that will hold 8 people at the port of miami?  I would hope they would be cheaper than $128.00 for a ride from the port of miami to miami airport?

There will be plenty of taxis at the port, however, I believe Florida law would require each child to  be in a child safety seat. I do not know if the taxi drivers would accept the fare with the chance that they may get a fine if you carry the children in your lap. If you can't get a van, a couple taxis would still be cheaper than $128.

I hope kids don't have to be in car seats.  We will not have any.  Does anybody know anything about this?  We have cruised before (without little ones) and i don't remember seeing anyone carry car seats to taxis or the tranfer buses.

A cab ride from Miami airport to pier is 18$ you can seat 4 in one cab 3 in back and 1 infront two cabs is 36$ you do the math even if you take 3 cabs you still save

My daughter has three kids under the age of 6 and her strollers have detachable seats that double as car seats. She uses these when travelling by car or air. Very handy. You may not have to use car seats on a bus, but you are taking a chance if the police see you in a car, with a child on your lap. Plus, if you get in an accident, the kids may be gravely injured. Take this from first hand experience from a retired cop.

well if we use a taxi they would be sitting in the seat with a seat belt. There would only be us in taxi so we would use a seat belt for them.

Duh-what's more important, saving a few bucks or your child safety?

DUH ! Child safety!! We just havent seen anyone carring large car seats on the cruise an didnt know how or what to do!!!!

I highy recommend the following car service. We used them for transportation from the FLL airport to south beach Miami, so I'm sure they can also be highered for transportation between MIA and the cruise port. Their prices and service were excellent, and they have many different size cars, which accommodate different size groups. We actually paid for a town car for 2 of us, and we were picked up in a partial stretch limo!
