We have Verizon and SprintPCS cell phones and are wondering if we will have "regular" coverage for voice service on the ship as well as in Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas.

 If they have the service, are there any extra charges (than the minutes used) for using the phones in Bahamas or on the ship?

and onboard the rate is 2.49 a min.  but you would need to check with your carrier to see if they have any other fees added.  and what the rates would be on the islands.

We have Verizon and used our phones on the boat and in the Bahamas as well.  We were roaming, and it was as VA Cruiser said something like 2.49/minute.  But call Verizon ahead of time to make sure your phone is compatable and they can show you how to update the phone for that type of coverage.  We had it for emergencies as our son was left with my parents, but it did work great!
