I was trying to register my nephews in the kids groups.  One will be in Circle C and I could register him, but when it said I was to print out the forms the pages would not load to print out.  Has anyone else had issues with this, perhaps Carnivals site has issues. 

Also why can I not pre register my nephew for the 14-17 yr old group, it says no pre registration available at this time.  Anyone have an idea why.

You may want to try again,The 1st time I tryed to print the forms for my 10 yr old daughter it did the same thing, Then again ?? I wanted to sign up my 2 teens and was told same thing and I have no Idea.

I don't think you have to register the older kids, they sign themselves in and out so what do we need to register them for?  Registration is about who can pick them up and all of their info....maybe they figure the older kids know all this already

On board, when I went to the Info Meeting the first night, parents still had to hand in filled out and signed forms.  I had printed out copies of mine, and brought them with me.  So, I just had to sign and hand them in.    I guess my point is that being Pre-registered doesn't seem to change this ritual.

Younger kids (I think it's under 12, or maybe 11) have to wear a wristband while on board that identifies their muster station in case they are separated from their family during an emergency.  On our cruise last December my boyfriends son Ty  was given a "paper" one (same material that they used for the luggage tags they used to send out) during the muster drill.  He complained that it was very uncomfortable and scratchy.  (it didn't look very comfortable to wear for a whole week.)

We saw a lot of other kids who were wearing nicer, thinner plastic/rubber ones.  We were told that those came from camp carnival. 

Since we were traveling with the extended family, Ty wasn't interested in going to Camp Carnival, so we never registered him, but we asked if we could do it (second day) and get a nicer band for him, and they said no.  (no to the being able to get a nicer band, not to registering for camp.  I think he could have still signed up.) 

So I think that doing the pre-registration should get you the nicer wristband - I registered my two nephews already for our cruise in TEN DAYS (yipee!).  You might get the nicer band if you register when you first board - I don't know for sure.  Maybe someone else does.

Angie - I also had trouble printing the forms from the website.  Instead of printing directly, I tried saving the forms to my desktop.  I then closed the website, went to my saved documents, opened them and printed without any issues.  Maybe that will work for you too.

From my experience, pre-registration, registration, or not registering at all, doesn't have any bearing on the wristbands. 

At least for us, the wristbands are handed out to kids during the muster drill just before embarkation.  True, there is a lot of people participating, and I can guess that the Carnival employee(s) handing out the wristbands might miss a kid in the crowd.    And I am sure that since every kid has to wear one, if Camp later notices a kid without one, they will put one on them.

In other words, the wristbands are to ensure all kids get to their assigned lifeboat in any emergency.  The wristbands are not Camp IDs.

Right Walt.  I never thought they were camp ID's, I just thought that somehow being registered for Camp Carnival guarenteed the better, more comfortable wrist band.

Our muster drill was after embarkation - and continued into sail away.  Do they sometimes do it before you board the ship - how do they do that?

Ah, you caught me.

I was thinking about when the ship embarks onto the cruise, as in leaving the dock.  Not as to when passengers board the ship.  I had assumed most readers would have understood that distinction since as you pointed out, you can't have a drill before the passengers even board.  I guess not all readers got it.  Sorry for confusing you.  I'll try to not do that again.

I thought that it was a Coast Guard requirement to have the muster drill before the ship was allowed to leave the dock, but from your personal example, that might not be true for all origination ports.

Hi Walt - LOL.  I'm very easily confused - as a matter of fact I had to go look up embarkation under FAQ's to make sure I didn't misunderstand the term!  lol. 

I actually was watching a news program about cruising a couple of weeks ago, and they were aboard one of the NCL ships.  The video they showed of the muster drill showed everyone sitting in a room watching a demonstration (ala airplane style) - and I thought that was strange since on all my other cruises I've had to actually go to the lifeboat station.  So when you made that comment, I thought perhaps in some ports they did more of a briefing as opposed to a drill. 

On the Triumph in December I was a bit unhappy about us sailing away while I was stuck in the drill.  I was back against the wall and behind the lifeboat, and I couldn't see a thing!     Being only 5'1" doesn't help much either.

Next week I'll be sure to be one of the LAST people out for the drill so I can be one of the FIRST away and up to Lido so I can watch us sail away.

Our ship left port between 10:30 pm and 11 pm. We did not have a muster drill that night after we left. In fact, the muster drill was scheduled for 10am the first sea day and that didn't even happen til close to 11am. Screwed up our meet and greet.
