    smoking

I am a first time cruiser, and wondered if there were any places on the ship that you can smoke?

Well Deb...there are quite a lot of threads here regarding this.  You might want to check some of those.  But yes, there are definitely places to smoke.  I'm sure you're going to get A LOT of feedback!

Just a word of warning about smoking. Do not -- Do not -- Do not -- flick your cigarette butt overboard. Someone did that  a while back, the wind took the butt back onto the ship and it caused quite a serious fire on the ship. The resulting investigation resulted in the cruise line taking the person to court for damages. That said, there are several smoking areas that you can use on the ship. Have a happy and safe cruise!!

    CruiserFromMaine,

That is a great reminder for the people that do smoke.... that they should never toss the butt overboard.

My wife smoked on the balcony.  I think that's why she likes to book balcony cabins.  She also smoked on the decks in the designated areas and the casino and some of the lounges allow it as well.

Wow, 7 replies and nobody has gone crazy yet.  Fascinating.

For sure...don't throw your butt overboard.  (Couldn't help it.)  Fire is hard to deal with at sea.

Also, be considerate of your neighbors if you're on a cabin balcony - your smoke may waft over into your neighbor's balcony and/or cabin if their door is open (which it's not supposed to be, btw).  Just common courtesy is called for - most smokers actually possess that atribute but some who don't give all smokers a bad rep - and that's coming from a recovering nicotine addict!!

Hey Wendy! Play the penny slots in the casino and you can have fun and smoke all you want for $10-20 an evening. I love the penny slots myself. I get a soft drink card, and they bring you Cokes all nightlong. I actually came out ahead on the Holiday last week.

We love you Kalyn Padget and Rosie Unsworth (our lovely adopted daughters), Amy Barton, Melanie Therrien, TJ, and Rick! The Fun Crew puts the fun in Carnival Cruising! Thank you Butch for being a fantastic CD!

I've only been off the Holiday for a short time, and I'm already having fits of melancholy. I guess unless we can cruise every two months, I'll probably never be satisfied again.

Our 7 YO and 6 YO grandsons decided that they would prefer a Thanksgiving Cruise to Key West and Cozumel on the Destiny to Thanksgiving in Orlando/Kissimmee this November. We must be teaching them well. Thanks for an excuse for my booking another cruise, guys!

We went on two Norwegian Cruise Line Tramp Steamer Cruises - Thank goodness we were too busy on our honeymoon in 1978 to realize how crummy the cruise actually was - Then they ruined our 2007 Hawaii Cruise that was my retirement gift from my wife - Two chances is enough! - Never again!

Our current future dream cruise is 15 days back-to-back on the Freedom / 8-day Eastern (Fort Lauderdale) and the Valor / 7-day Western (Port of Miami) with a 45 minute private shuttle ride in between the two Fun Ships.
