    Early Saver vs. Fun Saver

    Hello...

I am looking into a 5 day cruise in Sept 2010 for 4 people (2 rooms)...I understand pretty much all the workings with the price guarentees, etc.

Can anyone tell me the ACTUAL amount of the non-reimburseable deposit for the Early Saver rate pe stateroom or per person?

On the Fun Saver rate - is there a deposit for that?

    Thanks,

    Stacy

the deposits are the very same for each type of price offered.... with the early saver rate...  you get the price reductions if any up to 2 business days before you sail, with the other rates you can get the price reductions up to the final payment date.

if you book the early saver what you would have to do if you can not sail and want to change the cruise date is you would lose $50

here is a link that will explain everything about the early saver rate for you

I know that the early saver rates are non-refundable ...so if the deposits are the same, is the fun saver deposits refundable?

Also, how much as the deposits?

the deposits on the other rates are refundable. until the final payment time after that it will depend on when the cruise is canceled

deposit depends on how long the cruise is.

    5 day is 200

    for a 6 or 7 day it is 250

and for 8 days or longer it is 300

The 2 days is because Carnival doesn't want Early Savers requesting OBC based on the ultra low "Pack & Go" rates which might be offered to fill any remaining cabins.

the pack & go rate is not eligible for the early saver rate.

the 2 business day is because the offices are closed on weekends.  so they do not want someone thinking they can put in a request late on a friday for a sunday cruise.

I have learned this the hard way.

If you book ES and you want to change your date you do not pay always $50, you pay whatever penalty category you are in.  i.e.  I was within 32 days of sailing and needed to push my sailing back 1 week and it cost me 50% of my booking rate!

So, if you are absoltely positive nothing in your life is going to change then book ES, otherwise you may want to check out the other rate.  I'd have saved money by going with FunSaver, but life and learn.

    MagnoiliaBlossom ,

I am not sure but I think once you pass the final payment date... that if you have to change your date you lose your deposit even if you booked another type of rate, it is just the way the cruiselines work.... I will have to check it out and make sure I am giving you correct info...

But if you know you have no plans on changing a date the early saver rate is a good one to go with...

Isn't that what I said?   Well, wrote?

Isn't that why weekends are never count as business days, for many business and not just for Carnival?   Neither are legal holidays considered business days.

Instead of posting, why don't you just call Carnival at 1-800-819-3902. They will be glad to assist you and answer all your questions. That is what they are there for and you will know you are receiving the CORRECT information. Happy Cruising ! !
