We just got off the Splendor yesterday. We had the early seating in the Black Pearl and our wait staff was the best we have ever had on any cruise. We found the food much better on this ship than on the Pride. Our room stewart was ok, he was very pleasant. So was the rest of the stff. The CD was Stephanie Mead, she was ok, but we have had other CD's much better.
The ship's decor was very pink and cheap looking, pink and silver circles everywhere mixed with black tile with neon green grout. I found it hideous, I guess that I prefer the richness of the wood and more traditional styles. It was very art deco-if you like that style this is the ship for you.
We found the common areas small and always crowded, especially on the formal nights with all of the photographers. There was no Captain's cocktail party, just a meet and greet. We did not attend the past guest party, as the room was not large enough to accomodate everyone. We did get our Spendor pins. There was a farewell coctail party we did not attend.
The ship stores were small and there was a lack of cashiers, on several occasions we had to search for someone to check us out.
The pool side movies were nice, but they started very late 10:45 -It would have been nice to have them start earlier since the movies shown were family movies, like race to witch mountain and hotel for dogs. We were with our 7 and 9 year old grandkids, they had a difficult time staying awake through the movie that ended at 1:00 a.m.
The ships captain was wonderful, hurricane Patricia was in our path and we had one rough day at sea, he navigated us around the worst of it and we had wonderful weather in Puerta Vallerat, Mazatlan, and Cabo.
We will probably sail again on the Splendor in the future, I won't let the decor keep me away.....
