    Excursions at Progreso

    2 questions:

    1) What excursions to you recommend? The ruins or the beach or self-tour?

    2) Do you book through Carnival or is there another site you trust?

Thanks! This is our first time there and looking forward to it and trying (of course) to do it as inexpensively as possible.

We took the excursion to the Uxmal ruins last year...bus ride is not as long as advertised...the ruins were exceptional if you like that kind of stuff....we were in "AWE".

In two weeks, we are going back on the same cruise and are going to see Chichen Itza....I can hardly wait!!!

The ruins of Dzibilchaltun are fairly close to Progreso. You can book them through Carnival or at the pier, the pier will be less expensive. The tour company at the pier is AutoProgreso, the same one used by the ship.

    Re: Excursions at Progreso

We did an excursion that took us to a private beach resort that

was really nice.  It was an all inclusive that included lunch and

alcohol.  They also had an optional drop off to downtown to

shopping however the tour operator hinted that it was at your

own risk and did not recommend it.  Everyone took their advice

on our bus.  We booked it with Carnival and had a great time.

    Have fun whatever you choose.
