    A HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On September 12, my husband and I took a 5 days cruise on the Destiny to the Caribbean, so we thought. This was our first cruise. When we got the pier we were handed a slip of paper that stated the itinery had been changed due to propulsion problems and that we will be going to Key West and the Bahamas instead.  Talk about not being happy.  I had researched the ports in the Caribbean for over a year and I wasn't prepared to go to the Bahamas, neither was 2700 outher people.  At the bottom of the notice was a note that stated that due to the inconvenience of this Carnival offered each person 20% off a future cruise. What a joke.  The cruise line should have offered something more, something that we could have used while we were on the ship. I have always heard how great the food and service was on the ship and I never experienced that either.  The service in the main dining room sucked, I never knew our waiters name, nor did he do anything to make us feel special, at least not our table, he was spending much of his time with the other tables. My husband ordered a glass of port wine with his dessert and never received it, instead we had to  go to the Onyx Bar and got waited on by a wonderful waiter, his name is Matthew.  He was more attentive than our waiter at dinner.  The food was not what I expected it wasn't the lavish food I had been hearing about, I could of made better.  My husband was wanting a simple hanburger, and everytime we would go to get one, the place was closed.  When we wanted pizza, we had to wait for the guy to come from the back, and he was rude.  The food at the buffet was the worse thing, the selection was terrible and it was cold most of the time.   The elevators were always broke down, and it would take forever to get one to come to our floor. During the Captain's Celebration we never saw the Captain, I never knew who he was.  We were going to see  the late night comedy show one night, and we could not get in to save us, it was so packed. The other highlight of the cruise was Christian & Stepahnie, the destination shopping specialists, they were the most helpful people on the entire cruise.  When we wanted something in any of the ports they knew where to get the best and we were very grateful for them. Our cabin steward was also good, our cabin was kept clean and he keep us stocked in ice and ammenities.  I am throughly disappointed with Carnival and I will NEVER take a cruise with this line again and the 20% off of my next cruise, well,  they can take it and put it where the sun don't shine. I am telling all my friends and family that Carnival is a cheap waste of time and I wouldn't waste my money on it.

Hi!  as you know all cruise lines have the right to make any changes on the itinerary that they consider is safer for the guests, staff and ship.  This is not just CCL, expect it to happen on all cruise lines.  Yes, it is very disappointing, it's happened to me, but I got over it.  We were suppose to go to Aruba.  Life is too short to let anything spoil my cruise and my trip.  I guess I've been lucky, in 20 years of cruising it only happened once.

Anonymous - Your complaint is diluted by your (lackof) paragraphing.

In case you weren't aware, Carnivals Port Policy "If the itinerary change is for reasons within Carnival’s exclusive control, guests will have the opportunity to cancel their booking without penalty prior to sailing and within 24 hours of the guest notification, and in such an instance, guests will have the option to receive either a cash refund or a future cruise credit. In the event a guest does not cancel the cruise on a timely basis, no refund of any kind will be available."  IMO they should have offered you the opportunity to Cancel.
