Stingray city and Rum Point Beach questions?

My husband and I are going on our first cruise 11/30 (Destiny). We were thinking about the Stingray City and Rum Point Beach excursion. I was wondering how much time at each place do we get? Anything we need to know doing this excursion?

My husband really just wants to do Rum Point Beach (he's afraid of the Stingrays I think) but I didn't see an excursion that's just the one place...

    Any advise is greatly appreciated!

This was one of our favorite excursions...going back Jan. '10!!!  You'll meet at the pier, catch a taxi/bus to another pier, where you'll meet Captain Jack (hopefully he's still doing this tour!) and his crew.  You'll then take about a 20 minute boat ride to the sandbar that is Stingray City.  You'll be there for probably an hour where you'll swim with, feed, hold & kiss the stingrays!  (If you kiss a stingray, it's supposed to bring 7 years of good luck!)  After that you'll hop back on board the boat and be off to Rum Point Beach.  While we were enroute, they had menus to the Wreck Bar at Rum Point Beach, and phoned in our orders ahead.  Still had to wait a little while, probably won't take the time to eat next time around.  The food was excellent though.  I believe that you stay at the beach about 1 1/2 hours then head back to Georgetown.  I wish that they would make this excursion 5 or 6 hours long so more time could be spent at the beach!

I highly recommend this excursion!  You never know, once your husband gets to the stingrays, he might just change his mind!!  They are actually very gentle creatures!  Have a great cruise!!

Hi MrsTiz.. I have a question for you, how do I get in contact with this Captain Jack in order to make reservations?  or how does that works? I want to do sting ray and rum point.

We met Capt. Jack through the excursion that we booked through Carnival.  I belive it was under Stingray City and Rum Point Beach.  (If you go to Grand Cayman excursions, then under type, put in Beach and that will narrow your choices down)  I did have his website http://www.sundancer.ky/ but now it's showing that the site is disabled.  The name of the boat was Sundancer.  I hope he is still doing this...he and his crew were great!  Have a great cruise!!

Welcome back Marilole!!  So you did the Stingrays & Rum Point Beach with Nativeways?  How did you like them?  We booked Stingrays & RPB and immediately received a refund after finding out they cancelled with the current tour company.  We REALLY want to go back to RPB so any feedback or recommendations would be appreciated!!  Happy Cruising everyone!!

We are cruising next Oct. on Conquest & were wanting to do the Discover Cayman excursion.  Does anyone know any particulars on that one & if it's one that is having the contract cancelled too by chance?  This is the one that goes out for the stingrays, Hell & the Turtle farm.  Thanks in advance.

We are looking at doing the same thing.  We found this tour and only $45 for adults and $35 for kids Stingray City & Rum Point Beach Break its a 5 hour tour so I think we'll get plenty of time at Rum Point because it only stops at stingray city and no other snorkeling locations.  I love the stingrays, but my mom will be with us and I'm sure she'll watch from the boat:-)

    I can't wait to go!!!!

Re: Stingray city and Rum Point Beach questions?

I'm sailing on the Liberty and will be in Grand Cayman on the 11th of November. I contacted grandcaymancruiseexcursions mentioned above and they didn't have a tour available that day.

I just booked my daughter and I on the “Rays, Reef, and Rum Point” tour with Native Way Watersports while in Grand Cayman. $62.50 each and they were the only one I found with a tour going to Rum Point that day, which I really wanted to do.

Their email is nativway@candw.ky. I can't vouch for the tour because I haven't done it yet. If you decide to try them, tell them I sent you!

Wow, I guess we got a great deal, ours is only $45 for adults and $35 for kids, I guess thats why they were full on Nov 11th.  Any idea what the difference is between the two trips as its a big difference in price?
