    The truth about the Sensation

I am someone who likes to know what I'm getting myself into. So as soon as I booked myself a cruise on the Sensation, I began to "do my research" on the ship. I was shocked at how many people complained about the crew members being rude/having attitudes, etc. I saw numerous people say the ship smelled funny and how the decorations were tacky. Many past guests even described the food as being "mediocre at best."  All I can say is lies, lies, lies!  I just got off the ship yesterday and I had the time of my life! The crew was wonderful! I think we need to remember that a lot of countries aren't as friendly as Americans, and sometimes that can be misconstrued as rudeness.  I didn't see one American crew member onboard.  At times, the breakfast hostess in the Fantasy Dining Room wasn't as polite as she could  have been, but nothing to b*tch about.  The ship didn't smell funny to me, and I LOVED the decor.  It was very bright and colorful, but not tacky.  Doing my research is what helped me to determine that Carnival gives all ships a certain theme. And the ship is named Sensation because the decorations were meant to appeal to the senses.  The food? Yumm-o! LOL There were nights we ordered more, more, more. And they kept it coming. There were some things I didn't like, but who likes EVERY SINGLE THING they try? All I can say is see it for yourself! I don't plan on going back on the ship no time soon only because I want to try out as many different ships as I can. But I'd DEFINITELY go back!

We were on the same cruise and had an absolute blast!  It was awesome, the food was great, the staff was incredible, our cabin was always clean and the service at dinner was superb.  I don't understand all of the complaints.  I was a little worried too, but was so surprised and pleased with the service and the ship.  The beds are like heaven!  I slept so well.  We had our kids with us and they had plenty to keep them busy and happy.  This is a perfect vacation, you get to visit different places and be constantly entertained and served by a fantastic crew.  Loved it, loved it, loved it and am already planning our next trip!

So what did you do in Freeport?  I'm having mixed feelings about the stops now that I'm reading the destination forum on these places...lol

Re: The truth about the Sensation

i will be crusing sensation on nov 1 - nov 5 and wanted to know if they had any hair dryers in the bathrooms? how was the movement of the ship? this is my first time on the sensation. i cruised last year on the destiny (southern caribbean) and had a awesome time. only complaint i had about the destiny was it was a ruff cruise. had alot of movement. it was raining throughout some parts of the cruise so i took it as weather related. i too read posting about destiny and saw so many complaints. when i got on boat, i didnt see or notice any of the things people complain about. thanks for posting your review.

Thanks so much for these posts! I've read a lot about the rudeness of the staff on the Sensation- I wanted to chaulk it up to those people who will always find fault with something, but there were so many of them on the blogs that I was starting to worry. But I guess everyone can have a bad day, and if you get one less than stellar response from a crew member you could misconstrue it. I'm so relieved! Looking forward to our Red Hat cruise on Feb 21...

Thank You!  I will be sailing on the Sensation on February 7th -11th 2010.  I am so excited as this is my very first cruise and I have become obsessed with reading these boards trying to get as much information as possible about what to expect.  I have seen some negative reviews about Sensation and it had me worried a bit, but I think I have come across more positive than negative reviews.  But I think it's all about what you make of your cruise.  If you come in with a bad attitude you're going have a bad time.  So I'm going to put my best foot forward and just plan on having a great time!!  I just can not wait!!Yes

ChelseainFL: there's not much to do in Freeport, honestly.  It's an industrial port, so there's really not a damn thing to do. LOL There's the marketplace that we took a taxi to.  But it's hell to get to because the drivers are ridiculous. I was holding on for dear life (like everyone else in my taxi). Good luck with that.

D C: there are no hair dryers in the room :(.  You couldn't really feel anything unless you were on the Lido deck (deck 10). You'd think being high up, it'd be easier to handle. I don't get sick easy, but my friends felt it more on that deck.

Re: The truth about the Sensation

cruise crazy: there's not a lot to do in Freeport. We caught  a taxi out to the marketplace. We did some shopping and enjoyed the beach. Nassau offers more, thankfully. We caught a ferry out to the Atlantis Resort. There's much more to be done, but I had most of my fun on the ship. LOL We didn't do any of the excursions because they're overpriced. You'll be better off catching taxis around the city.

That is what I thought about Freeport the first time--not much to do.  so when our ship landed there again on another cruise i looked into a few other things.  We rented a car and when out to some caves.  They are bat caves during the nursing season.  When then did a little 20 minute hike and found the most beautiful beach.  Get some books on Freeport at your library.--it will be what you make it!
