Did you get anything refunded from this? What was the final outcome?

Just curious - as we have a trip booked with Carnivale, but we are past RC cruisers - kinda concerned!!

R they supposed to give you 24 hrs notice for bad weather too?  Maybe they did not know 24 hours ago the problem was still there...

BECAUSE THEY ARE KNOWN FOR REROUTEING GUEST WITHOUT NOTICE

I have RARELY seen this happen and don't think when it does it is just Carnival.  I have seen it happen on Royal and NCL as well, it is something they can do, it is written in your documents.  Friends of ours sailed NCL out of NY a little while ago and had warm clothes with them to go to the islands and go rerouted to Canada/NE...they got $100 per person onboard credit for this to buy warmer clothes since they were going to be in much cooler temps...it can happen...would you rather them have not told you and let you get on the ship an then changed it?  I've been to Jamaica, I'll take the Bahamas anyday.

P.S. You should post this under the Looking for Carnival Assistance, not the Miami Port, the port had nothing to do with this.

No, they refused to give us anything other than what they initially offered which was 20% off of our next carnival cruise which will never happen because I will never board another carnival cruise again.

Poop happens. It is very unfortunate, and I assume there were 2,500 feeling and acting the same way you did. Or were you the only one acting like a 4 y/o? Get on the ship and have fun and make the best of it. As far as you not ever going Carnival again, well, that can be nothing but good news for Carnival and the rest of us. I would never cruise any other line but Carnival.

Carnival can't control what breaks on one of their ships. Gosh, if you were in your car headed for a specific destination and your car broke down, would you complain about having to go somewhere else and let it ruin your week away from home, knowing you still had your hotel, room service, free meals and free entertainment?

Try going with the flow - you'll live longer.

Does anyone know why this message says it's from Suzie in Miami, FL when it hits my e-mail inbox in Explorer?

It is apparent Mr.or Mrs. Angry or whatever you prefer to call yourself, that you are looking for a fight and a bar of soap to wash your mouth, both of which you will not get from me.  I would suggest praying to the almighty to beg him for help to rid yourself of the demons that now posses you, we all have them but you must learn how to suppress your ugliness which you have yet to learn how to do. My last and final words to you are love is much more attractive than hate. Sincerely praying for you.

We wrote to Carnival and they apologized but that was about it.  When you calculate the headache we endured with Carnival it became more expensive than flying.  And the food...they had the same food almost every night with the exception of fine dinning.  Things have really changed.  The recession has affected the level of services you receive on Carnival Cruise lines as well as the perks.

Gosh...I didn't get a hint of anger in anything Robert said.  It may not have been as nice as you might have liked it to be.  And it might not have had the empathy you were looking for when you posted your displeasure.  But I saw A LOT of anger in your original post.  If anyone is angry here, it's definitely not him.  Plus, you came on a Carnival site to complain about Carnival.  It's been my experience in a very short time on this forum that you're not gonna get the kind of sympathy you're looking for in that regard.

It IS definitely unfortunate what you experienced, and I'm sorry for you.  But, shoot...I'm okay with ANY trip away from home.  Joy is in the JOURNEY, not the destination.  Of course, I know I will probably get blasted for that.  For me, life is short and far too precious to spend it with a negative vibe.  That's just me.  I hope things work out for you.

    And Robert...  Wink

    Re: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

as far as the same food in the lido, doesn't have to be that way. you can have a burger one day, sandwich the next etc. your going to find the same food on RCCL everyday too. your causing this trip change a headache for yourself. you would just go with the flow, it wouldn't be a headache.  when we cruise in carnival of 2002, we were suppose to go to key west but we ended up going to san juan instead  but we still had a great time. dont let one change turn you off and make you miserable, its not worth it

    Re: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

If I had gone through the drive to Miami and got to the dock and was told that the ship was over sold and they decided to put me on whatever ship they felt they had room on, then I would be very upset. But that was notthe case here. They had maintenance problems that could not be done in time, so instead of turning you away after you arrived they changed courses on you and had you on another ship instead. That sounds reasonable to me. You planned, paid for this trip and you were excited to be on vacation. So, enjoy it. In the contract it states that sometimes the plans do not go according to plans and they need to change itinery. They did not have 24 hours notice probably because they thought that they could make those repairs. Why ruin a great vacation time just because you did not get exactly what you wanted. They tried to make it up to you. Every cruiseline could end up doing that. Are you going to stop doing cruises? Take the change in plans and enjoy what vacation you can have. I am on a trip to the Bahamas in Dec. and if I get to Orlando and they say there is a problem and we are going somewhere else that is still warm, so be it. Who wants to join us?

Although I found your snide remark amusing, just for the record "going with the flow" has nothing to do with the length of my life.  God pulls the trigger on that.  Be very careful what you say through your lips because the devil is always listening.  I will live as long as the good Lord allows and it will have nothing to do with "going with the flow" or Carnival Cruise line but everything to do with how I treat others and live my life.  Maybe you should try being nice or maybe posting your opinion without being nasty.  Your opinion is only appreciated if you have something positive to say or if you can constructively help with the matter.  If not, keep your opinion to yourself.  We have enough of that nonsense in this world.  Sincerely, Love you still...

Thanks for your response, however, it is easy to say when you are not in that situation.  We had already been to the Bahamas several times by mistake and we were not impressed the first two times.  Anyway, I hope that you have a great time on your trip and maybe have some fun for me! Good luck, take care
