I'll keep checking back to see if anyone else has checked into the roll call. I want to keep us up toward the top, so others can find us!

oops, guess I missed you guys, and I did scroll back quite a way looking, that is why I started this thread!

Anyway, where are the Jan 10th cruisers on this site! There are a few more of us on the cruise critic site...I can't wait for this cruise!! I have a huge addiction! LOL Sailing under the skyway bridge is a must see. It is way cool to stand on the top deck forward and look back and watch the tail of the ship come under the bridge! As many times as I've seen this, it still look as though we will hit, especially when it's dark out as it will be on this sailing! We leave port at 4 and arrive the bridge about 6- 6:30 PM.

My wife and I are also booked on this cruise, it will be our 2nd.  I have noticed though that only about 6 excursions have shown up online among all 4 ports- is this the same for everyone else?  I called Carnival and spoke to 3 different people, 2 of whom didn't have an answer and the 3rd said they should all be available as we're only about 3 months out now, but before she could help me further the phone connection was lost.  We are interested in a few of the more popular excursions and I don't want to have them get full before I have a chance to book.  Any ideas?  Thanks

I just checked, and yeah, I'm seeing pretty much the same.  1 excursion for Cayman,1 for Roatan, like 5 for Belieze.  Only port with more than that is Cozumel, which only has 20ish.  I'm used to seeing like 50-100 options.

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

The full list of excursions should be available within the next couple weeks. Usually 2 1/2 months out. I usually book all my excursions privatly. I know for sure that in Grand Cayman, we will just head to seven mile beach, then back into town to shop and hit margaritaville for a bit. Cozumel is our favorite beach club, Nachi Cocum. We will head there by cab as soon as we dock. Our favorite beach stop in Nachi....love the uncrowdedness of this place and unlimited drinks and food, they also have great beach massages and I always get them for a real bargain. Totally relaxing day!! Still trying to decide about Roatan and Belize...both have some great snorkeling, but am leaning toward cave tubing in Belize. Carnival no longer offers this excursion, so I've been tossing up which company I want to book with. Thinking of booking an Island tour with Victor Bodden in Roatan with a stop at west end beach.

az_couple, you will love cruising out of Tampa...it's our favorite Fla port! It is a small port and usually runs along smoothly. The skyway bridge experience is a must!!

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

hey thanks!- you were a bigger help than carnival was Big Smile  i was thinking of doing it privately anyway at least in grand cayman and perhaps cozumel.  i was thinking of booking something through carnival for belize though- we were wanting to do the river wallace and mayan ruins- had some friends that did that and it was their favorite the entire trip.

My mind is probably foggy- our last cruise 2 yrs ago out of Canaveral on Elation to the Bahamas- I could of swore I was able to book excursions nearly 4 months out- who knows.  Well I'll just check back in on their site in a month or so.

This is our first cruise out of Tampa as well and now i'm thinking we should have done the dine at your own time- my wife likes to eat early so i just chose the early dining and now realizing- that would put us in the dining room when we passed under the bridge!!!  perhaps we'll just skip the dining room the first night- cause i've heard the passing under the bridge is a must- I even saw Samantha Brown on the travel channel do a carnival cruise out of tampa and about 10 minutes of the 30 minute show was the bridge!  i'm excited!!!!!

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

I'm glad I could be of some help! I know exactly what excursion you are talking about in Belize, tony and I did that same one the 1st time we were in Belize. It was a really good trip, the boat ride up the river was nice, saw a lot of Iguanas and monkeys even a couple of Crocs...The ruins were ok too. At the point where we got out of the river boat and were loading into the bus, for the ride to the ruins, they gave us time to order and eat a traditional Belize lunch...if they still do it, you have to try this!! It was roasted chicken, with red beans and rice cooked in coconut milk, it was simply delicious!! We also bought a bottle of cashew wine, that was wonderful. I am looking forward to buying a few bottles of the wine this trip, as I've never seen it in the States! You will certainly enjoy that excursion, just remember your hat and sunscreen for the boat trip, it was a long ride in the sun and no shade!

We always skip dinner in the dining room the first night, so we can be on deck going under the skyway. Besides, you will eat so much from the time we board, who wants to eat again at 6PM???  I too, saw the same Samantha Brown cruise aboard the Inspiration out of TampaYes

My wife and I booked for this cruise.  It;s our second carnival cruise, the first being our honeymoon out of San Jaun and into the southern carribean 4 years ago.  Looking forward to it!  January in WI is something you want to escape from!

I hear you Brewtown- we'll be running away from Nebraska!  There is nothing like bragging about being in the sun on the beach in January to family and friends in the midwest in January!!!

Being in Phoenix, the time I'd like to get out of town is July or August... when all the cruises are 2x the price becasue kids are out of school.  January is our NICE time of year, but it is also when I can get the cheapest cruise....  And, if there is anything I am, it is cheap!

that would be nice!  In January we're typically between-20 and 20 degrees and lots and lots of snow.  We're purposely spending extra for a driect flight as around here, you're always worried about getting delayed by snow!

Re: ROLL CALL: JAN 10, 2010

Is it January yet????? I had such a bad day at work, and I'm so sore and exhausted...I had to come on carnivals site, to help cheer myself up! Dang, just looked at the finished pics and videos of the Dream...I've been watching her progress, and now I'm thinking I need to find a week on her for maybe end of Feb...LOL

Tomorrow should be a better day...but I sure wish it was January now!! Happy weekend to everyone...
