I saw another thread that read 3rd or 10th of January but I didn't see one just for the 10th so I decided to start a new thread.

What say we get the talk started about our upcoming cruise??  We're flying from Anchorage to Miami and arriving on the 8th so we can rest up a bit before boarding the ship, and so we can pick up last minutes items for the cruise.

Hi we are a group of 8 New Yorkers, flying in January 9th.  No kids in our group this trip; our ages range from 36 - 62 and we will have three first-timers with us.  Have you all planned your shore excursions yet?  Looking forward to our first drink of the day in 114 days!

hi everyone, we are thinking about the myan ruin tour in belize and maybe the triple decker party boat in cozemel, roatan i think maybe just a sightseeing tour and in grand caymen i think we will just walk around town or take the sightseeing tour, if anyone wants to join us we would love to have some company. i will be on the ship early because we will be on the jan. 3rd cruise let me know how many people will be with your group and i can save some seats for lunch in the lido dining room. we would like to meet everyone.   gino

In Cozumel, I think we will be going to Paradise Beach again - we love it there!   It's free entry, a bucket of beers is $15, and for $10 you can use all their water toys (snorkeling, kayaks, floaties, etc). 

 In Grand Cayman, we plan to take a taxi to 7 Mile Beach and snorkel and lounge around...we have done the Rays, Reef and Rum Point excursion through Nativeways before and I highly recommend that if someone is looking for an excursion.  

In Roatan, we have a tour booked through Victor Bodden for an island tour, beach, shoping, and to see the monkeys.  $30 pp inclused our own private driver for the day to take us anywhere we want.  He comes highly recommeded and its cheaper than taxis!

 In Belize, we are going cave-tubing through Major Tom's.  I have wanted to do this for years and am really looking forward to it. 

 Feel free to join us on any excursions (we do have to reserve ahead for Belize and Roatan to ensure space is available, but we don't pay til we get there). 

I am very jealous that you will have already been on the boat for a week Gino!  The Eastern itinerary is my favorite - what are you doing at St Thomas and St Maarten?

hi, the roatan island tour sounds very nice we would be happy to join you so put us down for 3. the cave tubing sounds good to i will talk to the family about that, we want to see the myan ruins in either belize or cozumel not sure which island yet. on the eastern we will visit nassau, st. thomas, san juan and grand turk. in st thomas we are going to  st. john island a take a island tour. san juan we are doing the rainforest tour again. nassau just a sightseeing tour, grand turk-- never been there were not sure, any ideas would help.    gino

Hi Gino,

 We did one of the ruins out of Belize a couple of years ago.  We went to Altun Ha and it was a great trip.  It was only about an hour and 15 minute bus ride and they gave us plenty of time to walk around and visit the site after the guided tour.

We're thinking about doing one of the ruins out of Cozumel if it's offered on our cruise.

And I'm jealous [:'(] as well, that you'll have been on the ship for a week already, but then we're staying on for another week after this cruise, so it'll be your turn to be jealous at that point.

A.C., I'm jealous of your cruise on October, and will be bright green with envy as we debark and you get back on the ship on January 17th! 

Gino, I have never been to Grand Turk, so I can't be of much help.  The pictures I have seen look beautiful.  Let me know how you like it! 

There aren't many options yet from carnival sponsored excursions, I guess they add those as we get closer?   I have never taken a ship excursion but I love to read about them to get ideas on where to go /what to do.

Hey Cheryl...................the least we can do is wave to you from the Lido deck as you disembark.  Lol!!  Okay, that's just plain mean, but we had to do two weeks.  It's just not worth the money to fly out of Alaska unless we're doing at least a two week vacation. 

A.C - that is mean!  But I would do the same thing if I could... 

FYI there were price drops today in certain categories, so if you are booked early saver, check your prices.  My friends saved $30 pp today (and $20 pp a few weeks ago) on their inside room.  Unfortunately, my room is higher than what I paid!  Oh well....

Rotisserie & Burrito bars?  You bet!  I didn't even know they had those on the Splendor.  It must be something new.

Hey, does anyone have a good lead on a hotel in Miami?  We still haven't booked ours yet.
