    Re: Freedom Food Question

It was okay;  our dining room experience wasn't that great bad table assignment.  But the Lido buffet and the midnight buffet on the DECK PARTY night was great!

    Re: Freedom Food Question

We were on the Freedom in March and going again Oct. 10th.

Well let's see.  It aint like Paula Dean's cookin, but it's not bad.  Some stuff is better then others, just hold your nose (JK).  The flat iron steak was tuff the last time I had it.   This will be our 16th or 17th Carnival cruise and I really don't think we have ever sent anything back.  We aren't fussy eaters.

They do have an upscale restaurant that is very good, but it will cost you $25 or $30 a head.  Try the grilled Ruben or hot turkey on a country roll at the deli.  They close at 11 PM.  It will hold you over until breakfast.  You won't starve.

I thought the food was very good.  If you order something and don't like it, don't hesitate to ask for something else.  They are very good about getting you another entree.  Order more than one if you want to try something new but aren't sure whether you will like it or not.

The food was fine.  The dining room was excellent as always and the buffets at least decent if not better.  We had a lousy seating assignment in the dining room.  It was right next to the main entrance so we had quite a bit of traffic and noise from the desk there.  We asked to be moved but they were unable to as they said they were full and there was really no place to put us.  The best they could do was move us each night depending on no shows but we ended up staying where we were.  We had great servers that we liked so we decided to stay where we were.

    Re: Freedom Food Question

    Thanks Guys.

Of the 5 cruises we've taken, the food has been great one year and mediocre the next. My family and I really enjoy eating in the dining room but  were disappointed  on our last cruise on the Liberty. Hopefully we will have better luck next June on the Freedom.

P.S. Paula Deen's cookin' really ain't that good neither....Y'ALL....LOL Stick out tongue

    Re: Freedom Food Question

There is a late night buffet most nights.  I think each night is a different theme, western, mexican, etc.  We didn't go because we had late seating, dawdled over our food, left the table at 10-10:15 each night and couldn't face eating an hour later.

The food was excellent.  In the dining room you can order as many starters and entrees as you like.  On the first formal night I wanted the lobster and shrimp AND the duck.  Neither were being offered later in the cruise.  I asked for a lobster tail on the edge of the duck plate and got 2 plates...each entree!   I just didn't bother with the vegetables!

Unfortunately we didn't discover the fish and chips until the last day.  we knew it was there but we live where fish is a part of our lives and figured it wouldn't be any different than home.  Boy were we wrong!  BBQ'd octupus salad, seared tuna on watermelom, fritters.    MMMMMM yummy!

If youlike suishi the bar is open every day at 5:00.  I didn't miss a day!

Have fun and try everything!  I ate fish every day for 8 days!

    Re: Freedom Food Question

I'm going to be going for the first time on the Freedom too, on the 2nd of May, 2010.  Can't wait.  Seems like on the whole, most people liked the food, which is good, I'm hoping the buffet's are ran like the Glory, which were very good.  Well, have a great cruise....
