Taxi Ride to Port from Airport

My wife and I are sailing out of Baltimore on the Pride December 27th and this is is our first time cruising out of this port. We have always gone to the port city at least one day in advance but with the holidays we are getting there the day of. I am wondering if any local cruisers could let me know if there are any stores on the way to the port that a taxi driver can stop at for us to pick up some water and soda? We always take some beverages on board but we are flying in from Boston and obviously can't pack any!

Any help with this is appreciated as well as any info on what a taxi will cost!

I think a taxi ride is around 30-35 dollars, plus tip. There is a Walmart a hop skip and jump from the cruise port, so ask the taxi to go there first and wait while you go in and pick up some drinks. It's 20 cents for each half minute of wait.

(google map search ''walmart port covington'' and you'll see how close they are)

Thanks for the info! It sounds like a good idea and less expensive than the cruise transfers. Bringing some beverages on with us is important! (More money for me to lose in the casino!)

We are really looking forward to this cruise out of Baltimore as a new option rather than flying to Florida or some other southern port. The cruises out of Boston are mostly to Bermuda and nothing goes out of here in December. We don't know what to expect leaving out of a "cold" port but we hope it will be ok. It should be interesting no matter what.

Any thoughts on what the seas will be like in December / January?

Let's hope we get a stretch of unusually nice weather for our cruise! I heard it gets a bit warmer once you pass Cape Hatteras but no matter what I'll be on vacation and it will be warm at some point. From what I understand the Pride has a retractable dome over the main pool so that should help a bit. My only concern is if it's a full ship things will get too crowded. If you can't find something to do on a Carnival Cruise you aren't trying hard enough. You can always eat and eat more!
