Cabin Price has dropped and no shipboard credit!

Our vacation is about to start on Freedom on Sat. Aug. 29 and I'm not as excited as usual because I am paying $380 MORE for my cabin than what they are selling them for today. And the cabins that are still available are only four away from mine on Panorama deck.

Apparently Carnival is no longer honoring their policy of making up the difference if your cabin price goes down with a shipboard credit.  I didn't see that in the small print and I cruise every year.  With the shipboard credit they still have all of my money whether I spend the credit or not.  I cannot believe that in today's economy, fewer people cruising and the big ad they are running on tv to attract customers, that they cannot do the right thing and especially for a returning customer .  So much for customer loyalty.

It isn't about customer loyalty. The only guaranteed price is the Early Saver up til 2 days before.  My PVP said we can drop prices up till the 2 day period as well, you just have a penalty fee for changing if you are not Early Saver.  If it's more than the penalty fee, then change rooms and save money, if not, eveyone pays so much of a difference to begin with, don't book it if you don't want to pay the price you book, sorry but it's as simple as that for us.  Those fine print details will get ya every time.

Some people have paid more than you. Carnival changed their pricing policy almost a year ago. Too bad you haven't seen the change.

I'm confused.  I just booked a cruise last month to go out on the Valor.  When I booked my cruise with Gene Cook I asked him a million and one questions.  This will be my third cruise.  My last one was this past May on the Pride out of Baltimore.  The price of the cruise went down twice and they gave us the credits for it.  So when I booked this time I asked since it's so far away ( Sept. 5, 2010 ) what happenes if the cruise prices goes down.  He told me it's my responsibility to check the prices for that cruise and that catagory.  He said if it goes down just to call him back and if it's before I make the final payment they'd just lower my final payment by that much.  But if it's after my final payment and up to the two days before we sail they will give us an onboard credit for the difference.  So I don't no if it's who you talk to if you get the credit or not.

    genie eyes,

it is they way you book your cruise. if you book what is called the early saver rate you get the price change up to 2 days before sailing.

any other rate you book with, you only can get the price drop up to final payment date

When we booked the cruise out of Baltimore on the Pride we booked with the military discount rate.  That's when we got the two credits.  The cruise we booked for the Valor we did book early saver.  I was very suprised to get the credits for the Pride.  Then on top of that two days before our cruise they called and upgraded our room from inside room to a balcony room.  Guess the cruising Gods was looking out for me then!! Now I'll never cruise without a balcony room again.  My kids just loved it.

Today I called and got a cabin upgrade and obc.   Early saver has benefits along with the drawbacks.

Just FYI..I booked/paid off our cruise several months in advance, noticed the price dropped and called.  Only to find out since I booked a "Fun Saver" rate, not a "Early Saver" rate, it didn't count.  But they did allow me to pick our room.  Which normally doesn't happen w/ the "Fun Saver" rate.  Could be worse huh.

Re: Cabin Price has dropped and no shipboard credit!

Just today, my cabin category (6B - early saver) was $10 per person less than when I booked.   I submitted the online form.  My final amount due has been lowered.  I received the adjusted within an hour.

    Thanks,

Beware even with the Early Price Savers program.  I followed the procedures and had the rate lowered.  Then a week before sailing found an even lower price.  Call and was told to complete the online form.  I submitted it and did not receive a response.  So, I submitted again to ensure they received it more than 2 days before sailing.  No Response.  Emailed after my cruise and asked for an explanation and received a reply without an explanation.  Customer service seems to be nonexistent.  I really feel a lack of appreciation for my business especially considering that this was our 7th cruise with Carnival and we had 3 cabins.

Did you originally book the cruise yourself (like online)???  The online form is only for use by those who booked themselves.  If you booked thru any kind of agent, only that agent can submit a claim and they have their own seperate form that they must use.

Plus, the one "hitch" in the procedure is that the lower rate must still be in effect when the claim form is processed.   Carnival does not go by the fare back from when the form was submitted.  That's mentioned in the Early Saver fine print.  It does make me wonder if that requirement would just about exclude any possibility of making a claim against those "one day" sales like the ones Carnival runs on major holidays,
