    Ensenada later in the day

We are going to be in Ensenada on Sept. 2 & set up for the wine tasting which should be between 11:30 am- 2:30 pm.  Anyone have suggestions for the rest of the day & a good place for lunch.  I really wanted to do the cooking class excursion too, but it was at the same time as the wine & alcohol won.

Another question.... We do not sail until 10 pm, how much trouble & cost is it to go back & forth to the ship.  We don't know if we want to stay in town or on the beach all that time.  Maybe go back to ship for early dinner, then out on the town for a little nightlife. Or back to the ship for lunch & on the town for dinner, anyplace worth the price. Nomally we eat on the ship because it is included in the price & we like the food.

El Charro Restaurant is a good place to eat. It's on Lopez Mateos just before Ave. Ruiz and across the Papas & Beer (P&B is on the corner of Ave. Ruiz and Lopez Mateos). Look for the rotisserie chicken and the tortilla makers in the window. We usually get the half chicken (shared between at least 2 people), enchiladas, mole chicken and pipian chicken. We have never had a bad meal there (we have been there 6 times). Prices are reasonable.

Mango Mango nightclub is on the opposite corner of P&B. (We saw police breaking up the mob there one time during the day. People were dancing on the tables outside.). Hussong's is on Ave. Ruiz not far from Papas & Beer . Next door to Hussong's is an ice cream shop.Traditional mexican ice cream bars and scoops.

I can't help you about the taxis. We normally walk to town. It's about a 20 minute walk from the ship.

Thanks for the infomation, sounds like a good place to eat & easy to find.  I really want to try the traditional mexican ice cream so I will make sure to same room for it. We will most likely walk into town, but after a full day, not sure about walking back to the ship.

The walk is pretty easy, 20 minutes or so. There are also shuttle buses that run about every 15 to 20 minutes that when you purchase a ticket at the port is only $3 round trip. (They collect the money when you get to town and give you a voucher for the trip back).  The pick up point in town is different than the drop off point, but it is right across the street from Papas&Beer.

I wrote down the incorrect name for the restaurant. The correct name is LaHacienda del Charro.
