    Hawaii April 23, 2010...just booked!!!

    Hi everyone,

I am new here.  I am so happy to have found this site, there are a lot of great posts that I have been reading.

I just booked on the April 23, 2010 leaving from Honolulu.  It is part of my honeymoon trip and me and FH are so excited!!  It is our first time to Hawaii and it will be our 2nd cruise (our first was on the Carnival Fantasy to the Bahamas 5-4-06).  We will be flying to Oahu on April 17th and staying 4 nights in North Shore at a condo we found on vrbo dot com, and then 2 nights in Waikiki at Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Then we leave for the cruise!!!  I'm so excited for my 18 night honeymoon!!!!

I was just wondering if anyone can give me some info on what to expect on the Spirit.  From what I have read, I'm expecting that we will be some of the younger cruisers on board (we will be 26 and 27).  That is fine with us...not planning on doing a whole lot of drinking or partying.

Any advice on what would be some good activities for honeymooners?  Both on the ship and off the ship.

Before our cruise I was thinking about doing a helicopter tour of Oahu, a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center, and driving to Turtle Bay one night to have dinner there.  Anything else anyone can suggest would be appreciated.

Anyone else going on this cruise?

Does anyone know how the "my time" dining works...I'm wondering if we request a table for 2 if we will get it.

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to find out ahead of time what nights are formal nights?  I'd like to know ahead of time so I can plan my activities accordingly.

Oh and we have room 5299, an aft extended balcony, category 8I.  Really wanted a suite, but there were none left!!!  Does anyone know how the catergory 8I rooms are?

    Much thanks!!!!!

    Angie

Hi!  You will love your stay and cruise.  The Hilton Hawaii Village is unbelievable!  Huge! Huge!  We also flew 2 days prior to the cruise and we booked the USS Arizona excursion - that was worth it!  Do it while you are in Honolulu at the hotel.

You are going at the end of the Spring Break - you will have young couples and children also (not that many) and middle age to seniors.  So a variety of people!

No, don't know how the 'my time' diner works - this is brand new to CCL.  Go to the Customer Service desk and ask - once you board the ship - that way you are prepared and know what to expect i.e. do you need to pre-book a diner time every day or is it 'walk-in'.  Oh, you have to get a large table of 8 people.  That's how you meet other people on the cruise!  Some well seasoned cruisers will give you valuable information, don't be afraid to ask anyone on the cruise.

formal nights, don't worry about that because all shore excursions will be over by the time you go for diner - and boarding time also.  DON'T FORGET - get back on board before the deadline time!  i.e. Boarding time 4:00 p.m. - make sure you are back by 3:00 p.m. to be safe.  You really do not want to be waving the ship as it pulls away from the pier and you are left behind!  That is not a very pretty sight!!!!!  I have seen many people and families left behind because they did not pay attention to boarding time and decided to come back at the last second and calculated wrong.

Enjoy yourself, the islands are all very beautiful - my favorite was Maui.  Book your excursions on-line once you have completely paid for your cruise.  The best excursions do sell out first.

Enjoy your honeymoon and your 12 days cruise!

Booked up and ready to go!  I will also be one of the younger cruisers on board at 26.  I have cruised during the winter on the Princess line and I don't think there can be an older crowd than that...  I'm hoping to find other cruisers around my age, especially since this will be a "single" cruise for me!

As far as the "My Time Dining"... It is basically like going to a restaurant at home.  It is first come, first serve and you will most likely end up waiting.  A good thing is that the wait is usually less than 30 minutes.

Formal dining is another beast all together.  On most cruises it is on the first full day/night of the cruise and the night before the disembark night.  I have never been on a cruise this long before so it will be interesting to see exactly when the formal nights are scheduled.

I also have an extended balcony room, 5122.  I have stayed in an interior, a ocean view and a standard balcony, so I'm looking forward to what this room has over the others.  From what I'm reading on the forums, it is just your standard balcony stateroom with a little more floor space on the balcony, but we will see!

Congratulations on your future marriage and I hope you enjoy your trip!  I know I will!

Once I thought I was wrong... but I was mistaken.
