    RE:NO IRONS ALLOW ON SHIP

Hello, I just read that for safety reasons Carnival does not allow irons to be brought on board. How do you iron your wrinkled clothes that have been packed in your suit cases. Any suggestions!!! Thank you.

I always bring a steam iron which isn't as great. try to pack things that wrinkle easily last minute so its in the suit case for as little as possible. I haven't been on cruise in a couple of years but the last time they had a steam iron in the laundry room.

    Jan:

There are clothes irons in the laundrettes spaced throughout most ships.  There are also many forms of spray-on wrinkle removers.  Travel steamers are allowed and many advise those.  Dry-hanging.  Many have figured out how to pack that reduces wrinklage -- apparently rolling clothes?  Damp-hanging ... hang your clothes on the hook on the bathroom door, shut the door and run the hot shower for a while.

And there is also "don't worry about it".  My personal favorite.

Desperately seeking 10th cruise for the free laundry.

I just bought a Conair travel steamer from Wal-Mart for $17. Tried it out already and it works fine.

Also, the bathrooms are small & the water is hot, so you can hang your clothes in the there while you shower.

And, as mentioned, there are irons in the laundry facilities on board.

Thank you all for all of these good suggestions. I hope I'm not a pest but besides the 2 suit cases can you bring a garment bag and a carry on or do they mean just 2. Again thank you all. This board is so helpful, Jan.

Honestly ablejan, if you have more that 2 suit cases (and this is 2 per person, not per cabin), you may be overpacking, like my wife does. We're packing right now for ours, and we have a garment bag for formal attire, 2 suitcases and a shoe bag....and I think that will be plenty, maybe too much. But to answer your question, Carnival's policy says "guests are encouraged to limit their checked luggage to two suitcases per person," not required to do so. Don't know how strict they are. Also if you are flying to port, consider baggage restrictions and costs on airlines.

Thank you Tony for your answer. I have a disability and  I need a week's worth of medical supplies and that takes up one suitcase. One good thing is I live in Baltimore and will be leaving out of the Baltimore Port. Again thank you and I hope you and your wife have a wonderful trip!!!!!!!!!

I always bring my steamer.  It's light weight and is perfect for a cruise.

Carnival does not have any restrictions on checked. They do have some suggestions but they are only suggestions. Bring as much luggage as you want and/or need.

What brand steamer do you use? The Rowenta I bought burns my hand when I use it.
