I just wanted to pass on this little tid bit of info for those with Military ID's. 

While in San Diego a few weeks back I was in need of batteries.  We were walking back from Seaport Village on Pacific Hwy on our way to the Holiday Inn on Harbor Drive (across for the pier).  When I looked over to my left and saw a NEX sign on a building at the corner of Pacific Hwy and Broadway (across from the Office Max or Office Depot - don't remember which one).  We walked over and asked the guard if it was an exchange and he confirmed it was - although very small.  We were allowed access with our military ID's.  It is very small but had the batteries along with other travel type items and snack foods.  If you are in need of some last minute items or want to pick up soda before your cruise this is a good place - no tax.

  Did you ever make it over to North Island's exchange? 

  Eventually that building will be razed and used for development. It was "lost" during a brac realignment.

We did make it over to North Island.  Didn't think about the batteries until the morning of the cruise and didn't have a car anymore.  We were going to go into the Office Depot (thanks) but then I saw the sign.  I know I saved money going there.

Too bad it will be gone.  It was a little jewel.

I know that people park their cars there when on travel. They can catch the red bus across the street and not have to pay anything.

Like the govt is famous for, this site maybe here for years. It moves oh so slowly. (I typed slow to get the point across)
