LHos:I'm worried though that it will be incredibly lonely.
I generally cruise solo at least once or twice a year and I actually find it less lonely than being at home....because the people on board are generally open and friendly and eager to meet others.
Ask for a big table at dinner and you'll be seated with others who are traveling alone which is a very easy way to meet people to hang out with.
Bartenders and other crew members are great to talk to - they definitely understand about being a bit lonely since almost all of them have left friends and family back home....and they are really great company when they aren't too busy.
And if you book shore excursions through the ship - again, you'll get to meet people who you already have something in common with.
You definitely won't be lonely - and you'll only be alone if you choose to be.
