ok so here goes, my personal take, after all that is what we are all here for-
I have a 8.6, 11.9, and 16.8 yr old. My kids cruise a lot and with the age gaps, I have experience with all the different age groups on the ship.
I do understand where the OP is coming from. I have taught my kids how to behave in public and away from their parents. Of course there are some that dont care what the kids do as long as they are "out of their hair".
I homeschool all 3 of my children so we choose to cruise in the "off peek" time frame not only cause the price is right but because there are less kids. Yes, even though my children are there, we prefer to cruise when other children (this includes college kids) are in school.
I have also experienced rude and crude behavior on cruise ships. But, its not coming from the 15- 17 yr olds that are in the teen club. My complaint comes mainly from the 18 - 25 age group. They come on the ship to party and get drunk. Once again that is a choice but I think there is a time and place for everything.
On my May cruise, we experienced one group everyday. They averaged about 19 - 23 yrs old. They were on the ship to PARTY. Which is ok but they did it at the waterworks during the day. NOT the place nor the time.
I think waterworks is a family area. Not the place for the young group to go and curse LOUDLY and get drunk. Back to the time and place thing. They should have been at serenity bay but oh yeah, serenity bay wouldnt put up with the nonsense.
About the teens, train them the way you want them to go. It pays off - promise. Granted, you cant "train" everyone else's kids...
