    The Liberty-difficult to maneuver onboard

We just returned from our July 18-25 Eastern Caribbean cruise on The Liberty. The cruise was terrific...great time!  The ship itself, however, is another matter. We've sailed before, but we never experienced the difficulty in getting around onboard as we did on The Liberty. There was no attempt at helping passengers navigate the decks or locate activities onboard. There were a lot of passenger complaints about this. What was most difficult was the elevators frequently opened to "dead ends" with absolutely no signs or directions for passengers to find their way!! It was extremely difficult and frustrating to travel on The Liberty. While I'd sail with Carnival again, I would not sail on The Liberty again.

All of the Conquest class ships, of which the Liberty is one, have this layout. We have gotten a little used to it but for everyone, especially newbies, go to the pursers desk and get a card sized layout of the ship when you board. The pursers desk no matter which ship you're on will have the cards.

But that's part of the fun of cruising on a new class of ship - exploring all the dead ends, finding things days later that you never knew were there.  Quit complaining - it's a cruise!  Go with the flow and have fun with it!

There's also deck layouts near each elevator bank describing the deck you are on.

Note: near.  Not immediately outside each individual elevator.

Having traveled on some of the older classic ocean liners, these new ships are a breeze to navigate! just getting from bow to stern (or vise-versa) on the same deck often meant studying the deck plans. By the time you got to master it, the cruise was over! I still miss the old ships!

The OP's problem was that his head was stuck in the wrong, but familar position.
