Has anyone had any problems getting back to the ship on time through the autoprogresso tours? I am thinking about using them because they are so much cheaper but I also want to make it back on time. Missing the boat is really not in my budget!

 Autoprogreso is the company that "donates" the free transportation to/from the cruise ship to the mainland.

They probably know better than Carnival what the schedule is. I have never heard of a complaint about them.

 I used them once to go to Merida.  They are very aware of the time schedule.  I did learn that I could get more time in the city by doing the tour myself using the local bus system.  $3pp roundtrip vs $25pp for the AutoProgreso tour.  The Mexican bus system is very reliable.  It leaves Progreso every 15 minutes going to Merida.
