What is available in walking distance of where the ship docks in Progreso?

Do you have to take a bus to both shopping and the beaches?

How much $$ is the bus?

The ship docks at a pier that is about 3 miles long. There is a bar and some shops as soon as you get off the ship. The shuttle that takes you into the city of Progreso itself is free both ways Once off the bus you are at the market in Progreso with many shops. The beach is within two blocks or so of where the bus drops you off. If you want to go to the capitol city of Merida the local bus is about $5 round trip for two and is a couple of blocks from the shuttle stop.

The Fantasy  will be in Progreso from  7am  - 4PM.   We are doing the Uxmel excurision from 7 to 1:45 .   so we might have an hour to walk around.

MattInSoCal says we need to be back on ship an hour before.   So we can shop/walk for 1 hr.

Gosh,  with our restricted time frame I sure whish there was snorkeling  and beaches by  the pier!     An hour is probably not enought time to take the shuttle.
