Roll Call on Spirit for 1-14-10 Who is going?

We will be traveling on the Spirit to Mexico.  I have already been told that the ship is almost full.  Who all is going and where are you from?

Don't tell me we are the only ones going!  That should be good for an upgrade.

Right now my husband and I and my mother are booked to go on the 14th but may have to change the day to the 6th because of school.  Anyway, this is our first time on the Spirit - only been on the Holiday.  Have y'all booked any excursions?

We have only been looking. It is too early to book anything for Acapulco, there is an "on board only" flag right now. We are fairly sure we will be doing the Dolphin Swim in Zihuatanejo but have not booked it yet. We have never traveled on Carnival before. My sister who will be traveling with us has been on other Carnival ships but not the Spirit. Where will you be traveling From?

We're coming from Utah.  If we're not snowed in!!  My mom is joining us from Virginia.  Our plans have (completely) changed.  Instead of school now we're going to get pregnant so it looks like we'll be prego on the boat!  Have y'all reserved a dinner time yet?

We will be doing the open seating dining.  Gives us lots of flexibility and we will not feel so rushed one way or the other.  We are from Northern California.  My sister is from the San Francisco Peninsula (Pacifica)  and we are  from Winters (near Sacramento).

Very Cool. I love taking vacations just after the holidays. After having two 3 day weekends in a row it somehow seems bad to go away for at least another week plus. What room will you be in? Any idea on excursions yet?

I know what you mean...we're in SD so I'll be working right up until the 6th but with all the long holiday weekends and not many people at work the two holiday weeks it will almost feel like I'll be off for 3 or 4 weeks!  There are four of us, my wife and two daughters (10&9), sharing the cabin, so our selection is limited but I managed to get an extended balcony (8G) cabin on the Empress (6) deck.  We just booked it yesterday so I haven't really thought of excursions but my wife and I scuba dive so I typically do that at least once and we'll do some snorkling or other water related activity with the girls...also thinking horseback riding might be nice.  What about you?

We will also be on Empress Deck.  6240 and 6242 which are adjoining rooms.  I will be traveling with my significant other, my sister, and a cousin.  We are definately doing the dolphin swim in Zhiuataneo (sp), and maybe the Jungle/beach ATV ride in Manzanillo.  Acapulco is still open.    The beach and shopping will also be a must.

We all live in Northern California and will be staying at the Holiday Inn across the street. So we will be watching you arrive in port.

Re: Roll Call on Spirit for 1-14-10 Who is going?

We did a dolphin swim in Costa Maya (I think) a couple years ago when we were on the Conquest out of Miami...it was an awesome experience so you should definitely do that...maybe we'll do it again!  I think our girls are too small for the ATV ride but from what I hear about Manzanillo, you probably want to have something set up as the dock is a bit far from the town.  I might dive there or maybe do just the resort with the family, if we don't go horseback riding or snorkling.  I'm sure there is a ton to do in Acapulco and it seems as though you can't book anything online yet for that port.

I'll try to remember to wave at you when we come in!  I'm an early riser so I'll probably be up on deck when we arrive.  You can't beat the location of that hotel! My wife and I had a drink and ate too in the pub downstairs once which is pretty good, if you dont feel like goign out when you get there.  What time do you plan on going over to start the embarkation craziness?

We had stayed at that hotel once before when we went on a cruise.  It is very exciting to sit on your balcony and watch the ship pull up to your room.  We want to get on the ship and settled as soon as possible.  We will do as much preboarding on line as possible so, hopefully, everything else goes pretty quickly.

Got to get to that first Cervasa in a hurry!

That does sound nice but our 20min ride isn't so bad.  I hear ya...if it was up to me I'd head down first thing in the AM but I guess we'll go around 11:30...we've never left out of our home port, so is that a good time or too early?

I think you are probably pretty safe. I forget exactly what time embarkation begins but I do not think it is earlier than 11:30 AM. I usually do not get to stressed out about these things as long as the line is moving. We will get there pretty early, I am sure, because after breakfast there will not be much else to do.

Embarkation is officially 12:30-2:30 but there will be 3 ships in port on 1/6, I believe, so shooting for getting there a bit early.  I'm the same as you...takes a lot to stress me ....so I'm happy if we are moving.
