    New Cruise Ship Terminal Complex

Saw in the local business news today that Charleston has plans to expand/upgrade it's cruise ship terminal area (to include a new terminal building as well as multi-use buildings nearby - getting rid of the old warehouses!).  Hope this means an increase in cruises going out of Charleston - it's only 2 hours away from my house!!!

I dropped off the wife for her cruise on the Triumph on Memorial Day. They routed traffic around real screwy but after you drove off you will see that it made sense. Though most of it was driving around the vast parking lot and storage areas. Most of the waterfront is available to dock ships, they may just be able to extend the terminal bulding some.

I still hate the narrow streets in a full sized pickup truck

Oh, and not to bring dispariging <sp> words against Carnival, but there is another cruise line who is looking to make Charleston a regular port for the next year or so. It was announced on our local news the day after the Triumph sailed.

Living in Columbia, I would love to see bigger, new ships come to Charleston.  Seems like a big loss to the economy.
