If you can change your plans, I would advise you take another cruise (on another line). Carnival is notorious for ripping people off.

I never heard that before.  Where is that documented? I guess that is your opinion and opinions are llike noses, we all have one.

I knew this and was prepared to pay for the extras.  However, be warned: to use your cell phone, Carnival charges you 6$ per minues.

Cell phone service is charged based on your personal carrier.  Carnival only charges for the room phone service is you call other then to a ship phone.

To use the internet, they charge $24 per hour!

Yes that is correct and you had the option not to use it.  Their service is priced the same as most other cruise lines.

The spa is a great place to take a ton of your money.  We booked two treatments on the first night and it put us back $600 (you do need to tip on top of that!).

Yes the spa is expensive but being a doctors wife, I am sure you knew that.  Spa's on land are also expensive.

    The food is really bad.

That is another opinion.  A lot of people think Carnival's food is very good.  So do a lot of cruise rating polls.

Thanks to our Maitre'd, Shawn, he had some delicious Indian food made specially for us and a few others.  Thank God for that, we ate the chicken curry three of the five nights!

I hate curry type dishes so I guess your opinions will mean not much to me if you like that stuff.  See everybody is different.

The lobster was a joke, as big as my thumb and I am a medium sized woman!

You could have had as many as you like.  The smaller lobsters taste better and are not as tough.

The Guest Services were awful--they kept calling me to tell me my credit card was not authorizing my charges--it was a gold AMEX (LOL).

What is so awful about them doing their job?  If your credit card company rejected the card then it is up to you and them to fix, not Carnival.

Green, Blue, Gold, Platinum AMEX cards, what is the difference?  I personnally have a black one waht does that mean? Is the color of your credit card a big deal?

They have an art auction which I enjoyed--I bought $1,200 worth of art.  This was a subject of my credit card validity as well-I had to go down (from Veranda deck) to the guest desk five times to get the bill sorted out.

    Repeat complaine see above.

So, if you think you will have everything paid for you are naive.

Who is being naive?  Everyone who checks their Carnival documents know that everything is not included.

My shipboard credit account was over $1,800 for incidentals (of course most of that was art--and it had better be as good as they said it is).

That is really not so bad when you consider you bought art work for $1,200 dollars and spa services for $600.00.  If my math is correct you did not spend any thing else.  I guess you don't drink alcohol or do shore excursions. but that is OK.

Try to avoid this ship and Carnival if you can.

    Your opinion not the majority.

They are really a disreputable company.

     Your opinion not the majority.

Unfortunately, they own most of the entire cruise industry,

I guess they are doing something right.

As with the negative, there should be some positive.  That would be as previously mentioned our Maitre'd, Shawn and our waiters Joseph from India and Iniggere (from Indonesia) our wonderful cabin steward "Sofi" (from Indonsia) and the Art Auction staff from Park West Galleries. Our room location was pretty cool (Veranda 2) up front on the top floor for rooms.

The staff is usually pretty good whenever I hve cruised.

I wish I had taken that money and cruised on a FIVE STAR ship instead of this dump which I would rate at 1.5 stars.

I doubt that you could with the money you spentfor the Carnival cruise. By the way Berlitzrates the Inspiration 3 stars (***)

    Sorry, but it's my opinion

And you certainely have the right to express it.  It is just your opinion is not held by the majority but that is OK.

and I have travelled all over the world

    WOW I'm impressed

and on at least 5 cruises.

    Me too.

Better luck next time. Bon Voyage.

Yes, indeed, I did a lot of homework.

It certainely did not show in your post.

It was the only one which would fit our schedule.

    I make my own schedule.

And, I think you are a tiny bit mistaken regarding the cellular and internet fees.

The phone information is available from your cellular carrier and internet fees are posted in your cabin, in the information book on the desk and in the FAQ's on the Carnival web site.

Yes, I did see the spa charges dear, you you tip at all?

We always do on a cruise ship or on land it is not different.

Yes, I do know a bit about cruising, my husband was the doctor on a Carnival ship.

It certainely does not show in your posts.

There was NOTHING wrong with my credit cards, certainly not worth FIVE TIMES going to sort things out.

I guess not according to AMEX.

If others thought the food was great, I think their idea of good food is Arby's or Applebee's.

That is your opinion not the majority.

Also, you must not have had ***** service in your lifetime, or else you'd agree with me.

My comments were directed toward professionals, not blue collars.

I wear a lot of tee shirts now that I have retired from my white/blue/multicolor collar job.  What kind of collar is that?

For any blue collars out there, this cruise ship is pretty cool.  For others, don't even waste your time reading the description which says it was refurbished in 2005.  It looks like a tacky Vegas casino from the 70's.

If you had done your research and your husband was a doctor on a Carnival ship, then I am sure you knew that when you booked so why complian about it now.

Bon Voyage Ken!  Have fun on your next CC.

Ken, I would love to be there right with you.

I suspect Ms Vicci is permanently gone.

do you suppose Vicci got confused between entering a "screen-name" and an "e-mail address".

I suspect 4vicci is part of the reason why we still have problems in America with discrimination and the sort. If I had to classify myself, why you would want to I don't know, but I guess I would be white collar. But, like many others have said, I cruise Carnival because I love it and choose to. Not that we couldn't afford to pay for some of the other cruise lines. I guess my thinking is why pay more for something that you are not going to enjoy as much. To each his and her own. Their is no need to bash people and be uppidy (sp??) Who cares your class, I just want to cruise, enjoy my vacation, and spend time with my family. Thanks for not cruising carnival again 4vicci. Maybe the rest of us will enjoy our cruise more minus your complaining.

Why in the world would your husband sink so low as to serve the blue collar workers on a Carnival ship.  You would think will all of your class, he would not want to treat us commoners.  I would have thought he would be a doctor on Crystal or Seabourne.  Please do us all a favor, and stay off of Carnival, he could have gotten an incurable disease from us peons.  The funny thing is two of my doctors sail Carnival.

    Re: Inspiration-What a Dump!

If it were not for the blue collar workers in this country there would be no room for the "others".

As far as your credit card issue did you think to contact your credit card company before you left the country to let them know you were going out of country and there would be transactions?  Just because your credit card did not work was not Carnivals fault.  Oh by the way I am a blue collar worker with a gold AMEX and I did not have any problems on my cruise a few weeks ago.

Why are you complaining about the spa and internet charges?  It was your choice to use those services not Carnivals.  They did their job of posting them very well.

You must not know very much about food servings or you would have known that the bigger the lobster the tuffer it is and that goes along with most meat.  And if the lobster was not big enough for you all  you had to do was ask for another one?  If you can eat Indian food at each meal you can eat anything!
