what is the name of the free beach? carnival sells an excursion to the atlantis beach but it is pretty pricey. have also read once that the free beach had security issues. never got an answer as to what that was about. one lady mention having to really watch her belongings.

I don't know the name, she took water taxi to atlantis and walked past atlantis to get to beach. Then she found out a regular taxi car would have taken her right to beach for less money. Just need to ask taxi driver to take you to free beach next to atlantis.  As far as watching belongings, that you must do.  My friend found a family there who had a woman not swimming and she asked her to watch her things, the lady said she was the 2nd one to ask her that.  I don't know if it was someone off our ship or not.  When you come off the pier, there is a long building you need to walk through to get to the street, inside there is an information desk where she found out about the beach. I hope this helps.

thanks alot. my husband and i will gamble, but daughter, her husband and two kids (age 5 & 8) want to do the beach. we are worried now that it will be too cool (december cruise) we have done lots of winter cruise's but always to mexico. the hilton sounded like the best deal, but now that they have raised the price...not so sure. the free beach sounds sorta ??? but even the pay beaches,  could have stealing, etc. but it keeps the low life off. sorta pricey for a 5 yr old... like he could drink/eat 30.00 worth of food. all in all it is still cheaper than atlantis beach, hopefully it will be as nice. the atlantis water park deal is too expensive for the time allowed.

i truely believe in using the expensive carnival excursions rather than doing things on my own, but in the case of a beach.... you come and go at your own anyway.

I agree, but if like you say,. if you arn't sure of the weather, I'd rather take my chances than pre-pay for an excursion and wish you hadn't when it's too cool to really want to swim.  They sure don't give refunds for cool weather.

Could you tell me more about the free beach near Atlantis? We were hoping to goto Atlantis, but might not be able to afford it now.

I don't know anything more than what I wrote here, I didn't go to the beach myself, my friend did. Sorry. I do know that my daughter went to Atlantis for a week as a nanny of a main line family, and she said the beach was pretty bad.  She stayed at the pool all the time.

    Re: Nassau advice

Hey Folks, Thanks for all the info on Nassau.  We are sailing on the Fascination on 9/28 and one of our stops is Nassau.  Has anyone visited a spa there?  My wife is soooo loking forward to a relaxing massage.  After reading the reviews of the onboard spa, I want no part of it.  Any comments would be appreciated.

From what I seen of Nassua, I would stick to one of the resorts for a Spa.
