    Re: First Time Cuisers

Aw thanks :-) But he actually isn't home yet! Won't be back from Iraq until mid Sept! So our Oct cruise will be the first time I see him once he does come back! He's stationed in Alaska so he has to go back there first.  Me & the kids moved back home once he deployed cuz we didn't want to go through an Alaska winter alone!

Ok, so I thought of another question regarding the S&S card. I know they tie it in with your debit or credit card account, but I'm kinda concerned about the holds they place on your accounts. If I brought cash on board at check in, would I be able to use it for deposit onto the S&S card? So instead of using my actual credit card account I would be using the money I deposit at the beginning? I'm just a bit confused as to how it works.

    Re: First Time Cuisers

you can goto the pursers desk as soon as you get on board and put down cash on your account  there will be a long line at this time  and if you use your debit card then yes they do put holds on it im not sure of the amount we have never done this .the easyiest way is to use a credit card for your S&S card .we use a regular credit card and here and there durning the cruise will go to the pursers desk and pay on the balance so nothing actualy gets charged to the credit card..

no  matter what for what ever credit card you take to use for shopping you call them up and tell them you will be travling we found out one time when wife tryed to use one and was declined untill we called them .. opps

did you grow up and live in richmond ?

    Re: First Time Cuisers

Yea thanks! I actually called Carnival and the lady told me about being able to put cash down for the S&S account.  I definitely plan on telling my bank we are leaving cuz we've already had several issues with my hubby ordering things online either from Iraq or Alaska and they have put holds on our account cuz they thought it was fraudulent activity! LOL.

Yes I was born & raised in Richmond.  My first time flying was moving to Alaska! We lived there for a year and 10 months, and that was long enough for me! So glad to be back, however, my hubby re enlisted so we may be moving elsewhere next summer!

Oh and another question...how formal is the formal night?? Would my hubby's Class A Army uniform and my typical little black dress be enough? I don't want to be under dressed, especially since I've seen others talk about evening gowns and tuxedos!!

    Transportation

I will be on this cruise with my Wife, 3 kids (4, 3, and 1 years old), my mother-in-law, and some friends.  I live in Virginia Beach and am looking for a limo or bus that can pick us up and drop us off before and after the cruise.

Anyone know of some good places?

    Can't wait for this cruise!

    Re: Transportation

Welcome Donnyt of VB :-) You were asking for limo services in VB right? I wish I could help ya out but I live in Richmond.  Sorry! Maybe just check the yellow pages and call around to compare prices? That's prob what I'd do, I haven't been in a limo in years so I really wouldn't know where else to start!

    Re: First Time Cuisers

Price adjustments must be requested - they are not automatic.  It also depends on the type of fare you booked - not all qualify for price reductions once you are in penalty.

I'll check with Atlantic Limo, so far every company I've talked to wants over $300 each way.  With parking on ly $10 a day, I think I'll just end up driving myself.

     Only 74 days to go!

I'm wondering what the public beaches are like in the Bahamas.  The shore excursions seem really expensive for just a trip to the beach to play.  I'm thinking that I could manage with a taxi to a beach and just provide our own meals.

Anyone do this before in the Bahamas?

    Thanks,

    Donny

if you booked with a pvp at carnival then call them up and ask we just got a $60 obboard creddit today ..yeah ..  yes you have to ask for or if you see that the price has dropped for lets say a balcony than you can click on the 110% garrentee and follow what it says to do. if you can be online and talk to carnival they can walk you through it .. it took us a few years to learn  that but thats life ..

if you booked with a travel agent you would have to call them ..

     donnyt of vb

the public beaches are not bad in the 1st port we usaly goto blackbeards cay beach that i think is $35 a person its a very nice beach .

at freeport if you take a $5 perperson taxi ride to the shopping area you can walk across the street  and go to the beach behind the hotel (its free)  you just cant use the hotels pool thats a realy nice beach there
