I didn't remember that we are already in the Atlantic as soon as we set sail.  Our last two cruises were out of Tampa where it takes 2 hours just to get to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge from Tampa Bay into the Gulf of Mexico!!  I know we will meet anyway - you will know me by my walker!!

I'm posting here so our thread gets to move to the top of the list.  How about questions or suggestions for excursions? I'm retired and have time to do research, and if I can't find the answer then I will make up a good story for you.

This will be our first time to these ports and my aunt/gf and her husband just want to explore and so thats fine with us.  Any hints for unique and interesting places?  Cute inexpensive shops?  Dining thats not too spicy, but unique and interesting but not pricey?  And of course a fun place to get a drink?  Any hints would be great.  Taxi cabs or street cars?  Is it too far to walk?

St. Thomas has two places I go everytime, creature of habit I guess.  The Skyride to Paradise Point which is within walking distance when you get off the ship. When you get to the top (you ride a suspended cable car) you can look down and see all the ships and small islands.  The are some shops up there and a patio bar & grill, you have to order the famous Bushwacker drink. Frozen Baileys and cream really good.

My other place is Magen's Bay.  Not much going on there just a very peaceful quite cove and the water is pretty calm.

St. Maarten you can ride the water taxi, usually $6 for round trip as many times as you want.  Shops are lined up and down the streets, patio bar, beach front and one musn't forget the best place THE BELGIUM CHOCOLATE FACTORY!  That is an absolute must, the chocolate is to die for.

Whatever you do you will enjoy.

    Happy cruising

I am the more sedate of the brother and sister combo.  I will be at the Pirate Museum in Nassau and Magen's Bay Beach in St. Thomas.  How about recommendations from y'all for St.Maarten?

    Re: Glory 9-12-09

I am at least half packed so I'm with you.  We are not sure we will even get off the ship at the ports.  Too much walking and we have been there once before in '94.  My daughter says she could live happily at Magen's Bay but we are not beach people anyway.

One question - is room service in operation while we are in port?

I can't wait to meet everyone!!!

Sedate brother , lazy brother, what is the difference.lol

If you want to get off the ship in St. Thomas that would be a great place to shop or browse Priscilla.  The shopping is literally across the street from the dock.  They have a liquor /tobacco store, clothing all of the fun stuff is right there.  I actually rolled my Mom's wheelchair over there and we spent a little over an hour shopping. If you decide to ask for a wheelchair let me know, I will be glad to speed you around the ship or to the shopping, I have had a lot of experience rolling those things lol.  Besides, if you ask for the chair they will usually move you to the front of the line to board and take you to your room  woooooo.

    See you all soon.
