I worry now, so that I can relax later. (Not that I said I was worried about that) But anyway, a prepared vacationer makes for a happy one. :)
With kids you're probably right about the 6pm. Most people with children seem to love the early one. (another plus for the late, for those who can wait) In fact, most people I know who cruise choose the early one. It felt odd how early they had to leave whatever we were doing to get ready! I've heard a lot things about the flexible option not going too smoothly. Probably because it's new for them. I did it on Princess & Norwegian over 8 years ago. Now that I've been choosing a time, I like the late dining, The timing works better for us. I'm an extremely picky eater and this way I end up eating something probably in the late afternoon, so that if dinner doesn't look good for me, I can still go, give it a try and socialize, without starving, And of course, let my husband have a shot at trying some of the things they serve. Last time I was surprised by how much I got into picking a dessert after dinner, too. Also then, I could grab something afterwards if it didn't go too well and be ready for evening festivities. It also gives me time to spend at the pool, in port etc. and relax without feeling as much rush to run to my room to shower, deal with my hair & dressed for the evening. If I had children I'm sure I'd probably have to change this. Although, if they were the sort of kids I was, they'd probably rather go play and eat pizza and burgers anyway. :P
