    Lunch in Progresso

We are taking our first cruise in October and I was curious about places to eat in Progresso.  I was able to find several suggestions for Cozumel and fun things to do for both Cozumel and Progresso, but haven't seen much on where to eat in Progresso.  Since it will be our first time there and for only a day, I was looking for somewhere neat that could give the local food experience.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Re: Lunch in Progresso

When we went to Progresso in Feb., we did the Corona Beach Party excursion through Carnival.  A bus takes you to the end of the pier and drops you off at a restuarant with a beach.  You can sit on the beach, get a massage, play volleyball, etc.  It's drinks included and someone is bringing you drinks non stop.  They also bring you chips and salsa and guacamole.  I didn't order any food from the restaurant. But, i'm sure it's good.  We had a blast.  If you don't do this excursion, I'm sure you can get a taxi to the end of the pier and it's the first place right there on the left.  Enjoy!

We ate on the beach, the restaurants are across the street, just sit at a table and the server will come to you.  Had a great lunch, buckets of beer.  No charge for the table when you eat or drink.  Spent the whole day on the beach, walked back to the bus, $1.00 beer all the way back.  Nice shopping along the way.

My son went on $5 banana boat ride with my husband.  This time, I getting a massage.

Cant wait to go, leave next week

Octopus is a local specialty if in season and you are up for it.

I love some of the street food - cheese crepes followed by chocolate crepes.

For a good restaurant, Le Saint Bonnet is at the top of the list, me thinks.

I do like the $1 crepes - cheese or chocolate. Yum.

Here are lots of pictures of the local Progreso experience, including, of course, some food pictures:
