"Autism on the Seas" and Carnival

    Hi all,

This is Mike Sobbell from "Autism on the Seas".  We have recently starting working with Carnival, and I just want you all to know, that we find Carnival accomodating our clients extremely well.

If you have any questions for me, let me know...

    Sincerely,

    Mike

Re: "Autism on the Seas" and Carnival

My husband and I will be traveling with our 11 yr old autisic grandson on the Carnival Sensation 05/24/09 (4 day cruise).  I have contacted the special needs dept and they told me that somesone would contact me once we got on the ship.  I'm worried about the long line for check in and the muster drill.  He is  high functioning, but does have sensory problems with noise and crowds.  I already plan on checking in through the handicap line.  What are your suggestions on the muster drill?  Does Carnival have a special desk that we can go to once we get on the boat?  I don't want to wait for someone to contact us.

My sister has a walking disability that makes it difficult for her to stand for long periods.  We let crew know this just before the muster drill and they led us to the place where the passengers needing extra assistance during an emergency will go.  That became our Muster location. We were there with a few other passengers that had disability.  You should be able to attend the muster in a seperate location.  I know it is hard to wait till you are on ship to straighten out all of these things, but really it is best.  Then you are talking directly to the staff who will be responsible for directing you, and not someone on land who has maybe never been on that ship.

    All,

Our servcies make contact with (actual) Shipboard personnel, and in most cases they will contact and approach you once onboard.

In short, they'll be expecting and waiting your arrival.  This coupled with us giving you specific contact information for who to see onboard makes your pre-cruise concerns and your Day 1 experience much easier to deal with...

Re: "Autism on the Seas" and Carnival

Mike We are sailing on the Glory July 25th - my daughter is physically handicapped and also has Autism. We are also sailing with another family of 4 and their son Pete has Autism and is more severely impacted. In total there is 17 people in our group. Should each of use complete a "medical form" ? We are both concerned about checking it as our kids have issues with lines and large crowds in a small area. WE have sailed before But Pete has not and we did have an issue checking in on our last cruise. Any help you can give will be very much appreciated!!! Thank you!! Barbara

Cruisers should also know if that they just booked their cruise through Carnival and now need Autism of the Seas services....they can transfer their booking.

    The PVP still gets credit.

I believe there is now a time limit from the date you book...so if someone does want to transfer the booking...you need to check into it.
