Has anyone looked at the itineary changes. No one is at sea anymore. We were the only ship that got left at sea. All the Other legend ships for future date has received another port. Also lots still have roatan as a port.
This is sickening that we were left at sea!
You have to cruise with the knowledge that, on cruises, everything is subject to change.
We booked the Legend cruise, excited about going to Cozumel again, not caring if we ever went to Grand Cayman again, and looking forward to going to Belize and Roatan for the first time.
What we got was a) Grand Cayman was worse then last time because it was way overcrowded....but we did get to see 4 Carnival ships all together in the water there...Inspiration, Valor, Legend, and one that began with a D, which was an impressive site, but if we had a fun day at sea instead of Grand Cayman, we wouldn't have lost any sleep over it. Most of the other people we talked to on board weren't impressed with Grand Cayman either, though the people who did the stingray excursion were all over happy with it.
b) of course we missed Cozumel, which was a big disappointment to us, but we knew that before we left, and enjoyed our day at sea. Hung out at the back "adults only" bar and pool and talked and laughed with many new friends.
c) Belize was next, and we did the Altum Ha and Belize City tour excursion. We learned our lesson, if we ever go to Belize again, do an off-shore excursion. Belize City was very dirty and depressing, and the locals were not friendly...plus we got ripped off at one of the restaurants inside the tourist zone. Menu said $6.00 for two tacos, which my husand and I ordered two tacos each, which should have been $12.00 total. When we got the bill, it was for $20.00...apparently there is a $2.00 charge for the filling in each taco that isn't mentioned on the menu. I guess the $6.00 was just for the taco shell....but that was typical of how we were treated in Belize...."Give us your money and leave"....they definitely don't have the hang of being a tourist vacation spot yet. The other cruisers who went to the private islands, or off-shore fishing, or water excursions reported having a much better time.
d) Roatan, which we knew nothing about, turned out to be the best port of all....equal to or better then Cozumel. The locals were very friendly, informative, and everything was fairly priced. The island was clean and beautiful, and we were made to feel very welcome there.
So I guess the point to all this is...that just because you do get a port, doesn't mean it's going to be the highlight of your vacation, and in many cases, a day on ship is way better then a day at a port!
